Does it bother anyone else here, LIKE CRAZY, when an ND commit is a 5 star with some services or comp and a 4 star with others and everyone insists on calling them a 4 star?
If he's a 5 star comp., he's a FU$&ING 5 STAR TO ME

He's listed as a composite 4 star on his 247 page.

I'm kidding but yes it annoys me when people, no one here just that I read him as a four star and five star all over. Not sure why people can't just give him the benefit of the doubt and lean with the 5 star.
I wasn't being that serious.

Nvm, I guess he is a four star,,,,,I was looking at the outdated rankings on the front.
Fu$& it, I decided he's a five star so he's a five star in my mind damnit

Dint get hung up on stars. This kid had several elite traits. He had the potential to play early and be an impact player. Thats all i need to see. Kid is a baller snd 5 or 4 star whatever.

He's a very high 4* and the #5 Safety. 4*/5* at that point not a big difference so to your point he's a great player. Who knows how much his future position questions weighs on his ranking as well.

Haha yeah that'd lock up these guys but then we'd lose out on Parsons.

All kidding aside, I agree. Did you hear the discussion on the early signing proposals on the ISD podcast a week or so ago? Mike Frank made a strong argument for an August early signing period rather than the presumed December and that it would favor ND.

Wow. After a shitty long drive to evansville with an intern it sure is nice to get on here and have some amazing news.

Got work to do to hang on to the two DB's we landed, but rather them be birds in the hand than in the bush.

Its amazing what can happen when your DC puts in the work required on the recruiting trail, isn't it?

Congrats, Derrick. Biggest defensive commit since Jaylon? I'll have my answer after I watch his entire film; his ranking and offer list sure fit that mold though.

Getting kids like Derrick and Kalon help the defense as a whole, not just the secondary. This will help the pass rush as, hopefully, Elko can send 6-7 guys and not worry about his DBs get beat.

He is a composite 5 star. He has a .9849 rating, which we last got in a defensive back - when?

But here is the thing. He is rated as a safety because he is all of 6'2" and 200lbs.

ND has him penciled as a corner. I talked with someone earlier as soon as I found out that he was going to commit, and the exact quote was, "He can play corner at ND and there will be no drop off in play from years past."

He is going to work on the big guys! Part of the plan.

Oh, and check the Gervin thread. I called him the backup plan for Gervin. Just wait to see what else is coming in this next week!

Can you elaborate on this more, please? Micah Jones seems to be announcing Friday, is there more than that? Malik Vann? Someone else?

I heard they recruited him to play safety. They seem certain of this fact and believe he has "outstanding speed" but not elite speed YET but truly believe he will have elite speed on pace he enters a college S&C program. They say he has the frame where he will gain 10-15 pounds of muscle that will give him the elite explosion he slightly lacks now.
They truly believe his skill set is best suited at safety but he would still be great at corner.
My opinion, you can't lose either way. He has the talent to be a fantastic corner and if he does get beat slightly by a big time burner, he has the height, long arms and athleticism to make up for it.
I also think he will end up at safety due to the fact he's 210 now and may be pushing 220 by the time week 1 rolls around in '18.
He's a great hitter and about as sure a tackler as you'll find.
Man, to think we could land another elite DB like Simon....
things are looking so promising boys

Wouldn't really classify Shayne Simons as elite. I think he's a tweener like Allen and it's pretty much why Allen dropped in the rankings

3* on 247 and not in the rivals 250

He's not a composite 5 stars, or a 5 star on any site. I know, who cares and just be excited, but I was just pointing that out before everyone starts going with "we got a 5 stat corner".
