Scout with a 4 Star, #12 S, #95 OA R&R. Moved him back into the Top 100 at least.

But 11 better safeties? Yeah right.

Performance: Allen came into the event looking to prove a point about his ability to play defensive back and he did exactly that. Despite being one of the biggest DB's in attendance, he impressed with his ability to turn and run even with the event's best wide receivers. Allen's combination of size and skills makes him a very special prospect at the safety position and one to watch for years to come.

It's good to know that Allen can play CB as an emergency if we continue to sign ZERO CB's.

We're currently 4-for-4 with our last four commits at CB decommitting, so why break a good streak now with a solid commitment and LOI signature?

What's more important about Allen and Griffith is when they are your safeties, you will have ex-All American CB's teaming up with whoever ends up as the starting CB's. That's why I'm excited about guys like Erick Hallett who possess elite athletic traits even though they may be a WHIP at this point of their career.

What is your guys take on how solid his commitment is?

Say the team goes 10-2 with a NY6 bowl and the coaching staff stays pretty much intact. How likely is it then he signs with ND.

Pretty damn good, his dad seems pretty serious about him keeping his word and his parents seem to be on his side. It's gonna be a tough fight keeping a top 100 kid from Georgia especially at position we can't recruit or develop worth a damn.

In that event, highly likely I'd say. A lot of positives here. We were early in his recruitment. Lyght established a good relationship his sophomore year. Visited and wanted to commit amidst a dumpster fire of a season. Family really liked the Elko hire. If we win and Elko's D puts up similar numbers to what he's done in past seasons, these guys will want to play for ND.

And say the team has an average season, say like 8-4?

ND averages 8 wins a year under Kelly so you can expect that. I don't think anyone knows what Allen is gonna do all I know is ND needs to win big this season. This recruiting class is crucial to ND football and they need to add some elite talent/great talent to this roster especially on defense and in the secondary.

To be honest I don't think anyone has any idea what Allen is gonna do if we win 10 games I think it would help winning 10. If we win 8 does Kelly stick? It doesn't help but if we only win 8 games this year I don't know who our head coach will be so that won't help keep Allen.

How the Safeties look this year could have more of an impact on his commitment than the overall success.

Haven't landed a talent like this since Max Redfield

Must have forgot italics

As far as HS prospects go who's the best safety we landed recently besides Redfield? Obviously he didn't pan out in college but he had all the ability in the world. To bad he didn't get the best coaching and he was an idiot off the field.

He had the hype that's for sure but all potential means is someone isn't worth a shit yet. I'm sure there's some koyak reference here

IIRC, wasn't Redfield ranked more for his sheer elite athleticism, but projected better as a receiver?

I don't see the comparisons to Allen, other than both being elite prospects. Redfield was more an elite athlete, than safety. Allen is an elite safety...and athlete.

I agree with you a thousand percent

I wasn't comparing the two at all as far as players I was just saying in terms of ranking and pure upside he's the best safety we have landed since Max
