Shayne Simon. Apparently, both their fathers went to West Point, and did so in consecutive years. Also, Derrik and Shayne ran AAU track against each other and Simon's mother has pictures of them. Families hit it off and this was a big time visit for all parties involved. Which is why I'm fairly surprised that Simon is already setting up his next UM visit. Really seemed like we nailed this visit enough to lock him up.

Hopefully it's because he is ready to commit to ND but wants one last visit to his other top two schools to solidify his thoughts.

So have we planted a hooker with refillable debit Cards at his high school yet? We need him to stick.

Well what's the call here all seeing Swami, does he stick? Don't try and get us amateurs involved in your patented process.

Don't be surprised if the WR that DA pulled the one hander against gets an ND offer this cycle if some current top of the board targets continue to fall off like Isaiah Crocker. He's Gunner Romney of Chandler, AZ and both Polian and Alexander offered him at their last stops. He had 1300 yds receiving last year for AZ's state champs, a 5rec/220yd/2TD game vs. Corona Centennial and a 10rec/175yd/2TD game against Valdosta, GA. Dude can play. Shocked his list is only the AZ's, Ivy's and BYU/Utah of course.

I don't usually get hype for a practice highlight but...

...and btw, he looks bigger everytime I see him.

The second rep is against Brennan Eagles who is listed at 6-4, 215.

If Brian Williams & Ajavon were to sign and be added to Simon & Allen??? I wouldn't pick it any different regardless of R&R's.

He did some things we just don't see around south bend lately...and then he plucked it on top of all of that...that was pretty damned impressive.

Allen's one hander was one of the few plays that WASN'T defensive interference.

From free article on II Pete Sampson talking to Derrick Allen about his weight and conditioning plan at ND.

"Balis already told me about my program. Lots of high intensity reps, maintaining weight, not going up, getting more cut up, more built. I like the workouts."

Similar to the discussion about D.Hayes coming out of HS, a good S&C caters to the athletes. Therefore, it's not a forgone conclusion that all players just keep gaining weight. Hayes is a great example of this. I remember there being discussion that Hayes was going to end up at SDE, because he was just going to keep getting bigger and bigger, obviously not the case.

Correct. Everyone just assumes kids are going to put on weight when they get to college. But you can get kids stronger and in better condition without adding weight. Depends on body type and what kind of workouts you develop for them.

Not a pass interference but it is a bad underthrow who allows Allen to make the play. A good pass there is a TD, the white WR was doing a good job gaining separation although Allen showed very good recovery speed because he was caught early. I think i was the only one here doubting of Redfield's tape coming out of HS (i always thought he was better suited to play WR) but man, Allen looks fantastic. Reminds me of Eric Berry (not as fast as Berry but bigger).

I truly think he's a 5:s: caliber SS prospect. He's big and moves well with great ball skills. He checks all of the boxes. If he signs, I think he'll be the best prospect we've had since the '15 class.

ISD thinks this as well. As for your second part, I think that's true too.

Dare we say, the next Max Redfield?

Max would never have made that pick. That guy had 0 ball skills on defense.

The thing that always just killed me about Max was how horrible his instincts were. He was out of position and late on everything... or if he wasn't late, he was so early in run support that it became obvious he was just guessing and not playing the position correctly.

With his gifts, he should've had 6+ interceptions a year as a FS. No ball skills, always out of position. Top 5 most disappointing recruit for me.

But totally a 1st round pick after this year at IUP
