That's a lot easier to do when the front 7 is loaded with high 4 and 5 star guys. Hard to pick a weak secondary apart when they don't have time to throw the ball.

ND doesn't have that luxury and therefore, has to land high end guys at every level.

That front seven of Georgia is actually stout against the run. Pass rushing not as much. 87th in nation in sacks. BTW ND is 56th in sacks.

Kevin Sinclair with the CB to Notre Dame today.

Only 4 CB's in though...3 to ND and 1 to UDub with it being a Washington insider.

I think that would be Kyler Gordon but Irvin has the highest floor because he could possibly be the FS that ND has been looking for since Max didn't Max out.

If ND were to get Bracy, Irivin and Gordon, I'd sh!t. So would UDub.

I hope Kevin is right on this one.

BTW, here's Irvin's updated stats:

7G ... 31 Tkl ... 4 Int ... 11 PR ... 186 yds ... 17 ypr ... 1 TD ... 7 rec ... 317 yds ... 45 ypc ... 2 TD

Irvin will be a stud CB. It's in his blood line. Irvin, Gordon and Bracy at corner and add Moala at safety. That would be big time crootin'.

Wiltfong and Loy w/ CB's for SC.

Ouch.

My desire is Porter and Boykin. Irvin or Taylor are third for me. Irvin would be a GREAT get, but he's a little more of a safety and we are fine there. Taylor could play any skill position.

But I think we land Wilkins Jr., who is rated well but the coaches apparently like him!

Bottom line he doesn't want to leave home. Loves everything about ND but the distance.

Yeah, I wouldn't want to leave sunny California for a soggy South Bend either. Don't blame the kid.

Only concern I have is that him and ASB are best friends.

ASB is USC. No way he leaves the lights of the West Coast.

But honestly, I will be very surprised if he lives up to the hype. With his size, a physical corner playing man could bully him right out of the game.

Maybe Im wrong. We will see <shrug>

Go watch Golden Tate's tapes or Steve Smith's NFL tapes and see how they handle bullies. That's what you're getting with ASB. The big difference is his quickness. The other two were legit 4.4 guys. ASB hasn't broken 4.6 that I've seen. He's going to be a productive WR, whether or not he's a star is the question.

Go watch ESB's tape, but make sure he is wearing no.6 not 83...you don't want to confuse these two.

The thing that makes me leery about ASB is ESB. I remember an old poster from rivals stating during the recruitment of ESB that he absolutely loved everything about ESB except his desire to fight. He may have been onto something....or maybe not.

Tate was strong as hell too though. Even in college. He'd bully right back, and he'd outfight much bigger DBs for the ball. I haven't seen that from ESB. Haven't watched enough ASB to know. Does he play like that?

Kevin flipped his CB to SC.

This sucks, it’s like watching Booker fade away all over again. I was really starting to like the idea of him being Irish too. Oh well. We will get the right kids when all is said and done.

Seems winning doesn't bring the recruits in

We say this every year, and aside from the 2013 class you are correct. I actually enjoyed this past signing day more than usual. We gained several kids, lower star, but great prospects imo. Really enjoyed the year we landed ESB and Dexter Williams on NSD too. Anywho, as long as we have great coaches like Long and Elko along with Balis shaping and molding these guys, I don’t know if I really care who we get anymore. As long as they want to be at ND, and we have a full roster, it’s all good with me.
