Where is this coming from? If anything, it seemed like the last 2 weeks BK has been putting in work, based on the 'great visit w/' pics kids are posting with him on twitter...

Personal opinion mostly. Most of the players that are not currently committed, that could flip/sign, will have very little to do with BK. Polian, Elko, Lea, Elston, etc.

Most of BK's visits have been with committed players, and I think that is for a reason. Add in some felt that Dantonio did a better job with Owusu the other day.

This class could still come together nicely, and it could also look pretty bare depending on how these next few days go. However, very little of that will have to do with BK, IMO.

Fair enough, JW where you were coming from.

Are you suggesting in the highlighted that the assistants are meeting with the 'uncommitted' because they have a better chance of being here in future years than BK, or am I reading too much into that comment?

Partially. Whether or not that is true, it is being used against us on the trail. And in short term recruiting, perception is all that matters. So, especially with the defensive recruits, I think its the right idea to sell Elko, Lea, and the new defense. Therefore the BK issue being, out of sight, out of mind, to some degree.

And this goes down the rabbit hole to a little further, but I question how locked in BK is to what is going on right now. For example, you have 2 coaches coming off of awful seasons, is it a surprise that Dantonio might have been the better "living room" guy in that scenario. Doesn't surprise me. One is humble and hungry, and the other seems somewhat aloof at times.

Man, I think BK is getting killed unfairly by a lot of you guys. You may be correct, and may have sources that are close enough to know some of this stuff, but I doubt it. I don't see how it's helpful on and ND website to bash the head guy over and over. We're keeping him, they are trying to scramble a bit right now b/c that's what every staff does at the end, especially w/ staff turnover. The new coaches seem to be doing a great job, and are out there, but a lot of that is they have to be since they are new. Just my opinion, BK is the coach, and I will hope for and expect a bounce back. You guys may turn out to be right and they should have fired him but I think we bounce back next year and he's a coach of the year candidate.

Fight me. :)

yeah if its BK's recruiting thats an issue, than thats partially on the AD and university. Difference between BK and Dantonio is one isnt a forgone conclusion he will be gone after this season regardless of result.

FWIW, I am by no means hoping that we fail because of my feelings towards BK, its actually the complete opposite. I hope we are very successful next season. I was merely stating, my opinion, on how I view what has been playing out. No ill will here, at all.

I personally think BK is a great recruiter, every class hes had at ND has been top 25-30. We will never compete with SEC or Big12 schools player for player, cuz of the academic standards. But last year I believe 4 or 5 kids left for the pros earlier. That really destroyed us. Fuller, Stanley, Smith (healthy), last year would of helped us alot. Throw in Robinson retiring and all the injuries, we were lucky to win 4 games. And the only game we were blown out of was USC. My only complaint is player development, I do think ND has been deficient in that area.

Great recruiter would not be how I would describe BK.

We all have to put things into perspective. Recruiting at ND isnt easy. In my lifetime only Lou has recruited better. With these new coordinators, I think were going to see things pick up. But Look at the number of players from ND in the NFL right now. Player development and injuries have been NDs problem, not talent.

Let's just say he is when he wants to be, which isn't often enough.

A couple things...
1. Top 25 recruiting are not the goal for Notre Dame, top 10 classes should be the expected norm. They were under every coach since the 90s with the exception of Ty Willingham and Brian Kelly.
2. The Big 12 does not recruit well -- at all -- so I'm what you're talking about with "academic standards" being the reason "we will never compete" with a conference we generally out recruit every year.

ND is constantly gunning for enough 4-5 star guys to fill a top 5 class every year. Academic non-qualifiers are the exception, not the norm.

Academic success once enrolled is a bigger roadblock than academic admission standards.

Yet in the last few cycles we really haven't landed very many elite (say, top 50 or even top 100) recruits. Especially beyond the OL and tight end positions.
I have tended to think some of that is strategic. We made a noticeable shift in approach after 2011 or 2012, a shift that made sense. Better to focus on kids who want to be here than get burned by drama queens, particularly given our challenges keeping five-stars on campus and active once they get here.
But it is hard to compile top classes if you're not landing (or even chasing) the top talent.

Not trying to sound like a dick, but this has been addressed ad nauseam in the coaches changes thread, and yes we all have differing opinions, but the overwhelming of us know BK has underachieved in the recruiting Dept.

Holy smokes those are skinny legs! Once he starts working on his legs he will gain weight like crazy.

Yeah, he doesn't even look 190 to me.

Koon's got bigger quads and gluts. Course that's why he can allllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllmost dunk at 5-6.75

Galatians 6:7-8

7 Make no mistake: God is not mocked, for a person will reap only what he sows, 8 because the one who sows for his flesh will reap corruption from the flesh, but the one who sows for the spirit will reap eternal life from the spirit.
