Any worry now that the Aggies are looking for another QB?

Seriously? Given recent transgressions, why would a QB prospect go anywhere near that program? Since Johnny Football (and even during Johnny Football), it's been a complete and utter disaster of their own doing at that position. If Davis is smart, he sticks with the team that doesn't lose 2 starting QB's in 1 offseason.

Virtually zero competition, thus early PT? Just a guess...

This. Davis will not see any meaningful QB time at ND until BW is gone. That's 2019 at the earliest, maybe 2020... IF he beats out Book, Jurkovec and Daniels. That's ok, he'll make a fine slot receiver someday.

If he does bail, Hopefully it's not to late for Jack Sears, though he got SC, UCLA and A&M offers this past week.

Sounds like Sears to UCLA is pretty close.

It'll be fun watching Davis during the UA game and during the week. Hopefully they let him use his legs a little. Don't see too much QB running in these games even though there are some good athletes back there.

Straight up vomit. If he wins the Elite 11 they'll find me in the closet swingin.

well he wont drop again in the ESPN rankings now. I think we kind of underrate Davis. He doesnt have Wimbush's physical tools, but he can do everything Kelly wants in a QB.

Meh. They're batting 5th and 6th in their own state after Texas, AM, Baylor, and TCU. They have to offer.

But they know how to get the most out of their QB's. If they see the tools, then I take that as a good sign.

will be at INVASION

"Being around the commits and learning from the coaches," said Davis as to what he's looking forward to about the trip. "That'll be the first time I'm actually getting coached by Coach Sanford, so I'm really looking forward to that."

"Everybody. Whoever has a Notre Dame offer down here, I'm in their 'DMs'," said Davis on who he is recruiting to Notre Dame. "[Four-star wide receiver and Oklahoma commit] Charleston Rambo, too. He's a little stubborn. No specifics, but all the big-time guys down here, just know I'm talking to them."

"When I got the offer, I wanted to go up there," said Davis. "I went up there to see the Wake Forest game. When I was up there, I loved the game environment. I loved the fans. Just the whole game day experience was really fun. I wanted to go again because I didn't get too much of a relationship with the coaches, so over time I was building that relationship. When I got up there the second time, it was more about what don't I like about the school. I loved everything about it, so I just had to pull the trigger."

"That's my boy," said Davis of Sanford. "We talk a lot. It can be football related or it can be personal. That relationship was a big factor in me committing."

I'm going to be so sad if/when we lose Sanford... he seems like the best recruiter we have on staff at the moment, and probably the best in awhile. Between him and Denson

Meanwhile, Harry just shakes his head and walks back to his room packed full with 4 and 5 star offensive linemen.

What absolutely slays me is that we continue to dominate recruiting at the positions with the best coaches... OL, QB, WR. Even if we don't sign 5:s: guys at WR we continue to get extremely good players and develop them. Prospects routinely talk about how awesome those guys are. Same thing applies to Denson too, at least on the early returns.

Then on defense, it's been absolute chaos pretty much from the Te'o fiasco onwards. Not a lot of top 100 players, not a lot of depth, not a lot of development. Lots of holes. I truly believe that Lyght and Gilmore are good coaches, but if the defense and defensive recruiting doesn't improve by leaps and bounds this year, I don't know what there is to lose by hitting the reset button. Because I swear to god if I have to hear another player rave about Sanford/Hiestand/etc. while NOT A SINGLE PERSON EVER mentions BVG being a net-positive factor in signing with ND I might lose my mind.

Should have been reset for this upcoming season. People have been saying "if we don't get better this year...." since 2013.

Sanford and CBK did a great job with Kizer last year but ND's QB recruiting hasn't been anything special besides Brandon Wimbush, who was a LaFleur recruit.

Since Sanford got to town, the Irish have the #34 QB in '16, Ian Book with wiffs on legacy Jacob Eason, home state / no offer Brandon Peters, no offer / high interest Patrick O'Brien, perfect fit Jarrett Guarantano and 7 other higher ranked QB's than Book.

In '17 he currently has Davis, the #18 QB in the class with wiffs on in-state Hunter Johnson, valued target Hendon Hooker and (so far) No offer / instant flip to ND from PSU / life long ND fan Sean Clifford who has passed Davis in the rankings and was the Opening Columbus MVP and Elite 11 invitee.

Not that this means anything but even our top of the '18 Christmas wishlist just got CB'd to OSU by Wiltfong.

It's not like he landed Shea Patterson and Hunter Johnson back to back with Jurkovec hard committed.

Just saying.

I believe Stanford is an elite recruiter, but I'm still waiting for that to pay off for QBs. We allegedly lead at one point for Hunter Johnson before Sanford even came into play, and ended up finishing 3rd at best to Tennessee and Clemson.

Now Jurkovic, again, allegedly a ND lean at one point, may be headed to OSU. Avery Davis may be a steal and maybe he really is their #2 behind Hunter Johnson, but he doesn't have many offers that show he's a top QB.

If in Sanford's first 3 years, we land Ian Book, Avery Davis, then some project in 2018, I'll be underwhelmed. This is ND and the depth chart for kids coming in for these years isn't scary since Wimbush will be as good as off of the books by the time they could realistically play.

Oh crap... I agreed with you in the Beal thread, responded in step with you in this thread and even have a 6 pack (actually the whole case)

Damn Koon, if you were a foot taller, much better looking and had some skills on the court I'd think we were related.
