Might be a better question for the master list thread, but do you think that if nd continues to lose (which is sadly probable) this class will implode? Haven't really heard about anybody not being solid, other than maybe pouncey, but a sub .500 year could change people's minds.
I've noticed that recently we've been pretty good at keeping commits on board, with a very small number of defections. It's a big contrast to the earlier years of kelly-era recruiting, when recruits like darby and greenberry come to mind. It seemed like those classes inevitably fell apart after the season.
This has been touched on before but post 2014 class. The staff realized that they had to change the type of player/prospect they were going after. Instead of trying to sell players, that weren't a fit, on the university. They started to come to terms with not being in some recruitments. They started to focus on the players/prospects, that really wanted to be at ND and not just for football. That's worked, at least so far. We've seen better retention of recruits. However, we haven't seen this poor of a performance under Kelly, so we shall see how it holds up now.
So far, we've seen (at least publicly), really good feedback from the committed players in 17' and 18' classes. Heck a few of the 2018 players, Bauer included, said that they would sign now, if there was an early signing period.
