good size and speed.....excels in zone schemes reading the qb and playing the ball, rangey...solid tackler...very well rounded

If you're watching his senior film, keep in mind that the kid played the season with a cast on his arm. But I thought he looked good in coverage and showed no fear in coming up in run support. He seems to really like upending people.

Here are the safeties I identified as being in ND's wheel house if they expanded the search for another safety. Tier 1 on top Tier 2 below. I didn't break them down by FS or SS though I think it's pretty clear they are looking for FS.

Had i seen Fields had Navy and AF offers and that Stanford kicked his tires, I'd have looked into him. When you see a OK kid with all CB's to OKSt, it doesn't jump out as a fit. You have to like his film though.

I think someone asked about RJ Potts above. I heard a while back that he probably wasn't a curriculum match. Plus, I think he ends up an OLB at IU (6-2, 210 now) or wherever he lands.

Guess it depends on what you mean by desperate... I'd say we are super desperate for numerous front seven positions and safety... and if you are wanting ND to win a natty during this cycle then yeah, we are desperate at more positions than not...

You're right in that it depends on how you look at it. In my definition I'd say we aren't desperate at any position but I might say we're slightly desperate in regards to quality depth at a few spots starting with the DL and both safety spots. I really hope some sophomores will step up this year as well as a few incoming freshman. I'm thinking Darnell Ewell, Isaiah Robertson.

I doubt it. Also, wow! Kid has a great build. I think all the emphasis needs to be on recruiting DB's, WR's and DE's
