Apparently, he’s been putting in the work. Book spoke highly of his work ethic. He’s turning out to be a difference maker.

That’s good to hear. As great as Yoon was he didn’t have a strong leg, still Love Yoon! Doerer has a strong leg.

I forgot to mention that Doerer would get my game ball if I was handing them out.

Was a little worried after losing Yoon and seeing a few mental mistakes from Doerer when he stepped in last year. He's really come on strong though, and he got the game ball tonight which showed it.

We knew the leg was big. Tonight he put it between the uprights from deep and that's what we needed.

He's the man until he isn't and hopefully that day never comes.

And it didn’t just make he put it through with room to spare.

It's shocking how much Doerer improved. Dude has a legit shot of being an NFL kicker if he keeps up last year.

Good point, this would have been his last year otherwise, right? I thought he appeared in enough games in 17 and 18

correct, he never redshirted and his freshman year the 4 year redshirt rule was not enacted.
They talked about this on the ISD podcast this week. Other guys they reckon this might be beneficial to:
Genmark Heath
Hinish
Wright

All played as true frosh

Imagine if Yoon had the extra year. He would've smashed the records he just broke.

Not to imply I'd rather have Yoon right now. Just thinking about if Yoon's career had a full extra season, he'd basically be cemented as the top scoring ND player all time because no one would have a realistic shot at catching him.

Hate to be that guy, but of course it's a slow week so I've gone back and watched the past few games. Is anyone else concerned with him and his FG's recently. Dude was lights out clutch his whole career through Clemson, but last two games has missed some REALLY bad. Hope he can get himself fixed for next Saturday.

Kickers are all head cases.

Expect the worst and be pleasantly surprised when they execute...

I'm concerned for anyone who's not concerned. These games often come down to a single score. To have a kicker who might be in his own kitchen is not a good thing.

Don't be that guy.

We don't talk about it, and he doesn't think about it.

Then we're all good.

I'm right there with you. It seems like his kicks haven't been going end over end. Hopefully he can get it figured out.

He's planting from too far away and as a result is having to reach out toward the football. It's a classic sign that he's rushing through his approach.

Jonathan's leg was broken in half after going to class and slipping on ice this week....

is what I expected to see when this thread was bumped. Thanks, guys! This one was out of the blue like the Lou thread.

Do us all a solid and reach out to Polian so that he can coach him up. I pitched in by giving a young coed a few greenbacks to light up some incense and teach Johnny Boy the ways of a little meditation. Go Irish and thanks to all you ND crazies for giving me something to read during my epsom salt baths!

interesting. I'll be honest I have no clue when it comes to kicking, among everything else I know, but I've always thought he's very slow getting extra points off. I'm curious now enough to go back and look.

Thanks!

He is trying to kick the ball too hard. You have to be the ball.
