Damn impressive. And even before knowing that, only a maroon would think that a 5th year college senior wouldn't be stronger than a high school senior of similar frame, not to mention Joe prolly has about 30 pounds on him.

I thought it was pretty obvious I was being sarcastic given your comment I was responding to and given the general commentary on Joe. So I think it's fair to say that most picked up the sarcasm. In all seriousness, kid very well be faster than Joe though.

I really need to get better at italicizing.

My apologies, completely missed it.

Kelly said in August that Schmidt benches over 400.

Not with a broken thumb!

That said : This is a great looking kid.

But that is only part of it.

A three star that would rather go to ND on his own dime than receive a scholarship anywhere else? And remember, Vandy isn't that bad of an education, really, is it?

Congrats, Ryan, I hope you are a Nosey Parker (for the football, man, for the football!)!

Honestly, I would take that full ride to Vandy over a walk-on to Notre Dame, and I'm a life-long ND fan. I just moved to the Nashville area, and I've seen how great a school Vandy is, and how great a city Nashville is -- sure, you're not going to be too successful on the field, but a free Vandy degree is no joke, and there are a lot of worse places to live than the Music City.

But I'm super happy the kid's coming. I think he could very well earn a scholarship in time.

Not only is he a wrestler, but he is a 3-time state champ! Winning the 170 lbs weight class as a freshman, 182 as a sophomore, and 195 as a junior. Now trying to win it again at 220. Very impressive.

Nice to see a Chattanooga boy going to ND. My niece attended his school.

If he was 6'2 - 6'3 he wouldn't be walking on at ND. Why are you hung up on height for a walk-on with some obvious talent and offers? This is a great walk-on pick up in my opinion.

All I meant was I've seen he's 6'2 and others reporting he's 5'11. That was my statement, I am not sure why you always think I am talking negative.

Zach Thamas was 5'11" and a undersized pro bowler

Thousands of other guys were the same size and never made it, so of course you will get some guys here and there. Kid obviously has some talent and I am happy he chose to walk on at ND. Sounds like it was a dream for him, can't help but pull for him even though he might never play. Good luck Mr. Parker

I like football players who also wrestle. Wrestlers were always the kids with a screw loose, and that's a good trait to have on the football field.

3 time state champ. Kid can definitely handle himself physically.

Winning 170 as a freshman is very impressive and following up at 182 as a sophomore is even more. The upper weights are always dominated by upper-classmen when you get to state. Wrestlers aren't afraid of anyone, have great footwork and are solid at using their hands to keep the opponent off of them. Great pickup for a walk-on.

Was looking at his Hudl, and noticed he has Wrestling highlights on there...

Kid is a demon. I think he will play an important role in this program and have a chip on his shoulder.

That power double leg...

This makes me expect big things from this kid. More bada$$ wrestlers, the better.

He's aggressive and likes to use his power. Good traits for a LB.

I knew he was a good wrestler but I didn't know he was this good. I'm really surprised he's not taking a wrestling scholarship to anywhere he wants to and continue down that path. Either way, happy to have him at ND.

those Allen boys at Sparty turned out good! I'm down for ND recruiting football players with wrestling backgrounds

I don't know much about this kid, so take this as simply conjecture on my part. But should we worry about a late offer from Iowa on this one? I mean, he's a reaaally good wrestler. I would be shocked if their wrestling coaching staff don't have him on their radar already. No?

Wooly, I'd be shocked if he didn't already have an Iowa offer. Sounds like he really loves ND, and wants to play ball in South Bend, at least what I've read about him seems to point that direction.

Really? Worry about a walk-on?

Is our/your plate that empty?

Can you please loosen the stick up your arse?

Considering that we have a rich tradition of walk ons having success with our team, and one is currently starting for us, I would say that keeping a kid that is a national champion wrestler as a walk on would be a fairly nice thing. I would apologize if that offends you, I guess I would just prefer to keep our walk on talent coming in... ;)
