It does, I suppose. But it'd sound a lot more positive if he said "You know what, let's end this. I'm going to Notre Dame."

That doesn't mean shit until his name is on a LOI, and even then a sick grandma could give him a hardship waiver out of it.

Didn't see this posted, but Robertson has set an official visit date to Alabama on Sunday after he visits Georgia Tech. He is then supposed to visit Georgia the following weekend after NSD.
So, he's visiting three more schools?

Why has he waited so long to make these final visits? Could he not time them out in way where he could have been ready for nsd?

I don't understand this at all.

So how did the bus get there? Wilfong made a tweet about how expensive that had to be to ship. I can't imagine they actually had another semi haul it down there.

Look up the word logistics. There are companies that do that.

Hell I bet you can get a local bus in Savanah, painted and decaled in a couple of hours, cheaper than driving one down. But what the hell do I know.

Are you guys serious? It is the equipment SEMI TRUCK and trailer not a bus. And hiring a driver for either really isn't that hard. Compared to most trucks out there it probably has pretty low mileage. End of the day round tripping to GA probably cost half as much as flying the private jet down there.

I guarantee, if you are talking about the equipment truck, the driver has a class A CDL as does any assistant that even rides in it. The insurance companies say so. I was thinking there was an additional bus from your comments. The difference between a 53' footer and a bus is about like the difference between a sub sandwich and a turd. May be sort of shaped the same, but they are two different things.

So, you're saying that Kelly and Co are dishonest dbags for scheming up a way to "sell" a kid on playing for them?

Should they just sit back and send polite, formal, and honest emails describing the benefits of playing for Notre Dame?

The game of recruiting, and sales, is about impressing people. If you can't impress people, you're going to struggle (or at the very least, not perform optimally).

And how is this a dick move? A dick move is when a school like Oklahoma tells a kid that they'll succeed academically, but their gsr is well under 70‰. That's dishonesty, not sending a truck down to show dedication and commitment.

Really?

Sounds positive for ND.

That's BS he already knows what UGA offers just has a different head coach. And head coach he is familiar with since he was committed to Bama. Someone is having to much fun with the attention.

Christian from ISD thinks that it's Stanford #1 with ND sitting at #2 right now. Said he might swap his visit this weekend to Bama instead of Georgia Tech. Georgia will get a visit next week and he may visit Stanford once his test grades come back.

We drive a fucking semi to his school and stanford barely recruits him and they're his #1.

Harbaugh's impact on Notre Dame has been painful.

Stanford endures and now Michigan begins.

This recruitment has ran afoul and I'm writing this kid off.

We never come out ahead in a situation like this...

He can't get into Stanford so if he wants to claim Stanford is his leader then okay.

That's why we have to make an all out push for his brother, the sane Harbaugh, when Kelly retires. John is Jim's nemesis.

Christian further clarified, DRob is the one saying Stanford is #1.

And added he would have to get good enough scores back to gain admission it seems.

And that's obviously what he's waiting for in pausing until after NSD.

Still not buying it. I refuse to let myself get suckered in here.

I agree with GoIrish41... I'd lose my mind if he picks us. He's by far my #1 want of the players left on the board.

A few weeks later...

We're trying to pull a 5:s: kid out of the deep south against Georgia and Alabama. You think there might be just a little bit of exterior pressure on him?

As I see it, the big problem is that these types of recruitments pretty much never work out for ND. The last one I can think of that did was Stephon Tuitt, and that's because his mom was squarely in ND's corner.

Usually, even when we "win" it ends up not working out (Lynch, Neal, etc.)... we're not built for the wishy-washy bag man recruiting battles of the south with parents stealing LOIs and family members being given jobs by boosters and things like that.

Every day that this drags past NSD will end up diminishing our chances unless he takes another visit to Notre Dame somewhere in there. So either we close, or someone else gets their way and he ends up at an SEC school. At least we'll know we tried as hard as possible.

This whole thing with Stanford is fucked because Sampson went to the mat about Stanford being out. That's only reason there is so much consternation over whether they are or are not an option.

Some of what ISD said is certainly right, Stanford has never before revisited a football player's application this late to try to get him in. They give people a thumbs up or thumbs down in January and that's the end of the discussion. It's hard for me to understand why they would completely change procedure here, unless Shaw has actually developed some leverage.

Either Stanford is truly out of consideration like Sampson said and this is all a giant ruse, or he's waiting past NSD and the reason is the test scores. On the surface, it looks like its clearly the latter.

He seems like he's trying to talk himself out of going to Notre Dame. My Crystal Ball is foggy at best after this news but if I had to put money down of day he's staying in the south.

I see two possible scenarios:

1 - He is getting all kinds of pressure to stay down south. He really doesn't want to show his hand before NSD so he's stating Stanford is still in it, he's taking visits past NSD etc. In other words, if he just came out and said ND was his leader he feels that he would have to deal with a lot more s*** right now so he's trying to keep everyone off balance.

2 - He doesn't REALLY want to come to ND. Everything sounds good on paper and he likes the coaches but his heart isn't in it. He's finding every possible alternative (as rtrn2glory says above).

Both scenarios seem just as likely. I agree with LAX that these recruitments often don't turn out well even if he signs with ND. On the flip side, I hope Kelly and staff have learned from their mistakes and have better identified kids from these areas that will succeed at ND (i.e. Tuitt vs Lynch).

Andrew from Rivals said ND feels really good on where they stand with him. The coaches are trying to clear some things up and get him to not delay things. Georgia appears to be more of a threat. He didn't mention what those things were that need to be cleared up.

Some of this, IMO, has to do with the fact he lives with his brother, and his mom is still involved. That makes 3 parties that need swayed. (Drob, mom, legal guardian bro)

Could also have to do with why all these OV's weren't scheduled in advance of NSD.

Kid wants to make all parties included in his decision, may have forgot to include himself at times, etc.

Again just my speculation as I know communication/organization can get difficult in these scenarios.

Just a thought - but what do depth charts look like on these teams and is Drob possibly looking for who has better PT potential? Waiting until after signing day he can see where all the recruiting chips fall and have complete info for his decision?

I've never felt less comfortable being the leader with 5 days til NSD. But if you're going to go hunting for big bucks outside of your backyard this is how it goes and we shouldn't be surprised.
