Why do defensive players care if ND had a bad defense? Maybe they think you can't win a Natty without solid defense? Bama has built a reputation for stellar defense since Saban has been there. Discover was starting to build a reputation as a coordinator but stopped recruiting before he fled. 2 years of Van Garden isn't enough to tell if his defense will work, but by year three we should have a pretty damned good idea. A lot of recruits don't want to play on a defense that gives up a ton of points and yards. It's not fun to get your assistance kicked.

It's been next year for so long that I never thought I'd live to see the day lol

I know right!? Don't get me wrong, I'll never forget listening to ESPN radio when we landed Te'o. That was an amazing day, but I can't remember landing multiple 5*'s on NSD ever. Last year was a lot of fun too when we got ESB and Dexter Williams, but this year could be euphoric!

I know Fresno isn't exactly SoCal, but those west coast vibes can resonate between two fairly level headed 18year olds and give them a sense of comfort in South Bend.
