Adams isn't the problem. It's BK/Long forcing him on defenses he doesn't have the skills to run on like Georgia and Miami.

I'd love it if Adams came back so he can beat up on the teams we overwhelm talent wise, but I've seen BK force him for 2 straight years and let Dexter/Jones Jr. come in for one 12 yard carry and then sit.

You had the same take when it was Cam McDaniel in the backfield, holding back guys like GA III and Greg Bryant. The fact is you need a complete back to be your starter. If you watch Josh Adams outside of his runs he does all the right things. He was one of the best backs in the nation this year, and that wasn't enough? He's going to be breaking a lot of ND records next year, records that have stood a long time in some cases. I've got news for ya, when Adams is done Tony Jones will probably be the next starter on this team. Flashy moves and abs may work for you, but they don't make a complete back.

A lot of people didn't like Ryan Grant when he was a starter, they would have rather had the electric Julius Jones. Both were great backs, but Grant was the one that probably had a more successful NFL career when all was said and done.

Like I said, petitioning for Dex to get carries is all well and good. Absolutely could have changed the outcome of the UGA game. I am fully on board with that. Just remember that Dex has been hurt all year, limiting the chances the staff had to show what they would do with a 1A and 1B. The one time it looked like he might get extended carries, he got into the open field and looked like he blew a tire.

Josh is good for teams that can't handle our OL, but his running style doesn't work against teams who can, and we saw that last year and this. I don't like stats, I like guys that can get the job done when you're in a game where you don't give a rats about stats, you just want to win because it's a huge game.

Dexter Williams and Tony Jones Jr. are better running backs who will continue to sit the bench, IMO. I'd rather have a guy that can get 4 yards every time, rather than someone who's 0, 0, 1, -1, 0, 70.

Didn't Dexter average 9 yards a carry this year? Would be nice to see what he can do against Miami/Georgia after watching BK define insanity for 4 quarters, forcing Josh into a no gain.

Id be fine with having him come back but I'd like to see more two back sets, also spread out the carries more, Adams, Dex, Tony Jones, CJ Holmes, Mcintosh all should be getting carries maybe CJ Holmes or Mcintosh can be RB/WR slot guys

You have to realize that Koon is kinda childlike. He likes guys that are built like superheroes and fast "exciting" guys with cool names like Dex. A boring back with a boring name is no fun, even with all the 65+ yard TD runs.

My 10 year old son's favorite way to watch football is to view the highlights on Youtube. I picture Koon doing the same. Koon, like my boy, comes up with things that make me smile. I just don't take anything they say too seriously.

to the bold: That's what Adams is! This has been discussed numerous times. A lot of our problems were the play calls. Lax has gone over that ad nauseum in many threads.

The other thing Adams does, is MAKE Dex better. I don't think it's coincidence that Josh fights for those hard yards, even despite running too many plays (not his fault) that require him to move too much in the backfield, only to have Dex rip off a nice chunk play.

Like everyone else, I was questioning why he wasn't playing much, and then he has that big run in Wf the (I believe) game, where he basically stopped mid run with a hamstring pull.

He was sitting because he was hurt, not because BK was just being crazy ol BK.

A draft eligible RB who has durability issues, had one of the best seasons of all time for a ND RB, plays a position where the average shelf life is incredibly short, and probably won't increase his draft stock by doing the same thing next season. Hmmmm...I think he should 1000% go pro. How many more years are the legs of this dude gonna hold up? If he does come back, then I absolutely love it and can't wait to watch him next season, but I think he should go pro and can return for his 4-5 classes to finish his degree when he's done playing professional football.

Nobody was going to fall forward in those two games. I think he was nicked up for the Miami game.

Why must his quality or level of effectiveness be defined based on where you perceive his draft stock to be? We're discussing how effective he is and will be on this team.

Using that logic, we should have been hoping Sheldon Day didn't come back for his final year, or Jarron Jones for his.

I can't guarantee you we'd have won if we gave Dexter the start and/or Tony Jones, but I sure as hell could guarantee you it wouldn't have hurt to try after watching Adams get stone walled the entire first half, and looking like he had the agility of Hector Salamanca.

There was plenty of proof in the 1st quarter that the talent was too big for Josh's style, and we have Dexter and Jones Jr sitting there on the bench, who actually run like running backs. Dexter was "hurt" against Miami and came in for a 16 yard run and then sat. Adams was the one hurt all year long, yet we forced him over and over, acted like 70 yard runs against North Carolina are a sign of the times.

IMO if Wimbusg completes 65% of his passes against Georgia, Miami and Stanford...Adams would have run wild.

Stack 7 or 8 in the box, a solid Defence can slow down any running attack that doesn't have Barry Sanders running the ball.

Notre Dame took Ronald Jones and Bryce Love out of the game this year, and they aren't too shabby
