'15 PA RB Josh Adams (Notre Dame Signed NLI)

It’s just perfect that Koon spent a week pissing his pants about the NC State defensive front and defending them as comparable to UGA... And later says Adams did nothing against good opponents.

Again, it’s perfectly reasonable to be mad that Dex/TJJr aren’t more involved, or to lament the idea that their carries may remain limited. But to disparage Adams and his accomplishments in the process is just... whew.

I said they had the best DL, that doesn't mean best defense, or even best front 7.

Don't move the field goal posts.

I wanna see Dex featured next year. That's the only reason I hope Josh chooses the NFL. We have a perfect 1-2 punch with Josh being the workhorse and Dex getting 15 touches to loosen the defense up. Josh is patient while Dex is lightning with his first two steps. Both are great attributes and both are ineffective if solely relied upon. I truly believe if Dex was used more in UG we would've won because he showed that he could push the pile 3-4 yds when he had the chance. He would've helped keep drives going instead of stalling.

This staff has no idea how to utilize these talents to the fullest so Josh should go while his stock is high and Dex should be three featured back next year with TJr getting reps. Otherwise Dex is gone

This doesn't make sense. You think having both Josh and Dex would make a perfect 1-2 punch, yet you hope Josh leaves because you don't think the staff knows how to utilize talent but you trust that same staff with less talent on the roster?

I want as many studs back as we can get. RBs get hurt a lot.

You're the one moving the posts lol. Now I know you're just trolling.

You said Josh didn't do anything against anybody of note... but spent the entirety of NC State week worried that we wouldn't be able to run the ball because of their vaunted DL.

You can't have it both ways, Koon.

I could be wrong here, but isn't Adams the career leader in YPC at ND? And we want him gone? What am I missing?

What's the definition of insanity again?

Arguing with someone that is constantly moving the goalposts?

I'm not moving anything. He had a good game against NC state, who IMO had the best DL we faced all year.

Their LBs and 3rd level weren't good enough (like Georgia's or Miami's) to make every play, though, so Josh got free for a few big runs when we did get good blocks on their DL.

You guys can think Josh is awesome and that's fine. I don't like running backs that excel at a 70 yarder here and there, I want someone who can cut and find a hole when there's almost none. Josh isn't that guy, and Dexter and Jones JR are much more built for it and on the very little sample size we have of them, they play great.

If you look at Bama and Georgia running backs or even Love or Barkley they are all the same compared to Josh. 3 yards here 2 yards there, -1 yards, no gain, then a 50-60 yard run mixed in. Bama and Georgia thrive on getting 3 or 4 yards and are happy with that.

And I'd be extremely happy with the running back that caters to the 3-4 yards style, rather than 1 home run a game then several ~0 yard gains that set us up for 2nd and 10, and then a 3rd and 9 against great defenses.

I don't want the flash, I want the consistency.

Do you have any statistics that back up what you’re saying because Josh led the nation in yards after contact. That’s the epitome of a guy that can give you consistent yards.

If I were you, I would be more critical of the run game philosophy, not those who are trying to execute it.

You mean the slow developing run plays? Yeah those can go too. Maybe if they'd adjust the running style it'd be better for Josh, but I don't have much faith they'll do that.

In this whole debate about playing Josh, does anyone really think that Dex was healthy this year.

Was Josh? He gets hurt every game and then we continue to force him.

Again, Dexter was "hurt" against Miami, came in and had probably the best run of any RB all night (it was like 15 yards), and then went back to the bench.

Wait wait wait, I've got this one for him.

KOON: Uh, he uh, he broke some long runs against bad opponents, but they grazed him with finger tips, so all of his yards after contact were bullshit.

IMO Josh looked dinged up, which seemed to slow him up. IMO Dex look great until that run where he got to second level and then basically stopped like the RB in The Last Boyscout, when his hamstring blew.

Pretty sure his carries was proportional to his health

What you're missing is that he's not Dexter, and he racked up all those YPC against creampuffs! Creampuffs I say!

This is the dumbest argument ever....

Its one no one will win becasue the comparisons arent even comparable. Dex was hurt the entire season. Josh wasnt hurt until like game 8 or 9. Josh will go down as one the best backs in the schools history. Dex has hardly seen the field.

I see your ban taught you a lot about online respect, sheesh.

Josh came out because of being 'hurt' in at least half of the games. Josh will go down as one of the best backs in school history based on "stats" alone. He's not one of the best backs in history.

You probably still think Colt Brennan is one of the best college quarterbacks in history because of your sweet stats, right?

If I were having a beer with you I would tell you straight to your face it is dumb AF. LOL. Dex didnt play for many reasons, none of which we are really privy to. Josh is an asset to this school and to the team and I would gladly welcome him back.
Stats are definitely not the whole enchilada , yet you hang you argument on 1 run by Dex in a Miami game 3/4 of the way into the season. lol

You have no idea why Dexter didn't play.

Do you realize he averaged almost 9 yards a carry on the season? Do you realize he averaged more than 1 yard more than Adams all year? Do you realize he appeared injured on only one play, the infamous quad run? Do you realize he came in a took a carry the week after against Miami, and got 15 yards, showed no ill effects, and then sat?

Do you know anything? Or are you just barstool guy that is falling off of his chair with hot takes you pretend are factual?

You were a mod, now removed. Now you're coming off of a ban. Don't slide too far off of your barstool my friend. It's getting ugly.

No one knows why he didnt play. Only BK and the team do.

I have not said anything egregious or outlandish. Hell, multiple people have already chimed in against your argument. Sorry you are getting butt hurt.

You cross the line, and have quite a bit lately. You did this a week before getting banned too, but your posts were deleted.

Your true colors are starting to show Cack.

Anyway, save your stats. They're almost meaningless in college football. Josh has a running style that is fine against inferior opponents and has the strength and speed to haul off big runs. But he has no agility and gets stoned against better teams.

There is a reason Josh might skip the pros, and it's not because of some over the top love for ND's 2018 team.

Williams and Jones Jr have styles that will keep the rushing game moving in games where Josh gets exposed. If you like stats, their YPC's were better.

And we know BK will continue to force the ball to him and let the RBs with a better style sit the bench.Josh is constantly coming off of the field because he's hurt. I'd take Tony Jones Jr over him if I were starting a team next year. If that opinion bothers you, have another.

Of course I want Josh to come back. But I also want BK to use Dexter more, especially in those games where Josh's running style is having difficulty against certain teams.

Josh averaged about 2.5 yards per carry in each of the games against Georgia, Miami and Stanford.

Dexter didn't get a single carry against Georgia and averaged over 7 yards per carry in each of the games against Miami and Stanford getting only 3 carries in each of those games.

Ultimately it goes back to the fact that their are certain players BK really likes and he will ride them regardless of what the game dictates. Josh is a great runner, good blocker and a team captain, but we needed a change in each of those previously mentioned games, and BK basically stayed with the same thing that wasn't working.

Here was BK's quote when asked about not playing Dexter against Georgia

https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/college/notre-dame/2017/09/12/notre-dame-where-rb-dexter-williams-vs-georgia/659838001/

Asked if there was any reason he didn’t get any touches, Irish coach Brian Kelly simply said, “no, there’s no particular reason other than coach’s decision” in his postgame news conference.

This is exactly where I'm at. If I knew BK wouldn't force Josh when it's not working, I'd want him back. He's good and should get 40% of our carries. But not 90%, especially when it's obvious early on he's not getting it done.

Williams and Jones Jr. are too talented to sit and watch BK smash Josh in a hole he's not quick enough to adjust to against a good defense.
