Can anyone tell me how far I need to go back in this thread to find the complaints about this kid coming to ND? I don't want to waste my time looking for the first page of the "he is only a 3 star player" comments.

That second TD was like 95% OL.

However, the speed through the hole was just great on his part.

Well done, Josh.

Not exactly how I would be celebrating this win tonight. There are always doubters.

He had a knee injury and you won't have to look far. I might be quoted as saying he is decisive in his running. I stand correct so far. Dude hits the holes.

I honestly didn't follow Josh's recruitment much, but I never discredited or doubted that he could be a force on this football team. Any man on the roster can find himself on the field, and you don't know what they will do until their time comes to play. Josh made a phenomenal start to his career tonight and I'm going to look forward to seeing him in the future. I love the way he hits the hole, he gets upfield quickly making one move and then taking off. He looks like a great young running back. He had a decent block in pass coverage too!

I didn't think he'd pan out but he looks legit. Let's hope the frosh stay healthy and learn pass pro very quickly. Hopefully Folston is tutoring them every night, because that is going to be our most difficult area moving forward.

I'm sure the frosh will run the ball well, it's everything else that makes me nervous.

Only 2 TDs in first game - Do Not Want!
Seriously, watching from the stadium; the second one was the OL; but this kid accelerated through the hole so fast. I'm so excited for this kid.

He looked great in his limited time in his 1st game as a freshman. A nice surprise.

2 TDs...pfft! How'd he do in pass protection? All that matters.

I really like this kid and hope with GB's academic issues and possible departure (?) that he can pick up the slack. BK just does not like playing Freshman RB's due to the scheme of picking up blockers and such-at least that's what I've seen/heard. Put the effort in and he could be a viable sub this year. If TF goes down the list of back-ups is such a drop off in ability. Sigh....

Hmmmm....

Looks like he played pretty well tonight.

I will eat my crow on this kid, I wasn't expecting anything and questioned why we took him. Hell of a performance tonight Josh and damn I am happy you are Irish now! Great start to hopefully an awesome career on and off the field at ND

Am I the only guy here who loves his HS tape? His competition isn't great but for a tall RB he shows awesome burst and quickness. His pad level is even pretty damn good already and takes contact well. Get him up to 6'2" 230 and he could be a beast. Personally like him more than Dexter Williams but they could be nice compliments to each other.

Bump from NSD. Kid has the size and speed to be special

Hmmmm....

Looks like he played pretty well tonight.

Next to Folston's terrible injury the worst that happened to the Irish was Fbolt straining some ligaments reaching his arm around . . . to pat himself on the back, and one or two IE brothers that suffered bicep strains on two much lifting, (the 12 oz. kind.) So thanks for that!

This is for them : WAKE THE FUCK UP; and, GO IRISH!

Seriously, no mention of the fact that his kid averaged over nine yards a carry? I would say that was acceleration, and nifty moves when necessary.

I always felt this kid was a GAIII with every bit of the speed, a little more brolic, the ability to lower his frame and center of gravity much better, the ability to run with a much lower pad level, a better work ethic, less privilege and more humility, minus the specific father, and all that he brings to the table!

Seriously, that move of Joshes, (ON HIS FIRST COLLEGE CARRY) showed more ability to change direction (because he was really committed) than that famous practice clip of GAIII. I mention this because I don't ever remember GAIII showing something like that at any other time. And I am not trying to pile on to GAIII.

I guess the point is that now we have two homerun threats at running back, and that doesn't even account for how Dexter develops!

But beyond the game and five fantastic freshman plays, (even the one he got creamed on, which was a complete offensive breakdown, I don't know if it was McGlinchey's fault or if it was a schematic problem with the defensive adjustment Texas threw at the Irish, but the kid immediately covered the ball!

But here is something I really liked seeing almost as much as his running, and pass protection :

If Tarean was in the game, we would have gone off. When a man goes down, it puts fuel in your fire. Everybody plays harder.”

Running behind an offense line that dominated Texas, and getting critical blocks on the outside by Irish wide receivers, Adams seized the moment to display his skills in his five carries. He turned the lead-bash play called for his first touchdown into a dazzling debut. But in the Irish locker room after putting the Longhorns in his rearview mirror on the field, Adams was putting his performance in the past.

“We’re looking to our next game,” Adams said. “We just have to keep working. It’s a great win for the team, and I know we’ll definitely get after it in practice next week. We’ll work even harder.” Adams said that running up against the Irish defense in practice gave him a blunt-force idea of what college football was like, and a taste for the speed of the game. He also said that running backs Folston and C.J. Prosise mentored him in the pre-season.

“Tarean and C.J. have been here for a while,” Adams said. “They know how the game is. They just told me to play how I know how to play. They told me to stay calm, high and tight, keep the ball tight and just go out there and play. They kept saying, do your job, and everything will take care of itself. It’s helped looking up to those guys and seeing how they played and how they handle things. It definitely motivated me to play in the same way.

“And, of course, coach (Autry) Denson does a great job of getting you prepared. That running back room is great. We’re all working hard for the same goal, and cheering for each other.”

What? That move on the linebacker was nasty

Huh? On Adams' second TD run, there was no "move on the linebacker". Are you sure you aren't thinking of another run of his?

It starts at about 2:02... Just a straight forward run, with a slight change of direction around the safety.
