Very few UNC fans are excited for this game - they are happily dumping their tickets to ND fans and largely frustrated the prices aren't higher. Most hoped this game would pay for their season tickets and they could go to the rest of the games for free. I have met none that are expecting to be competitive. Duke and NCST are stealing their thunder too so they prefer to go into hiding than talk football.

Cheap tickets mean ND fans bring the whole family and the more marginal fans have less excuse to stay home too. Cuts both ways in ND's favor. I expect a muted home game environment for ND.

Their season ticket levels for 7 games were $375, $275 and $175 - to see Cal, Louisville, Duke, ND, Virginia, Miami and Western Carolina. That is a pretty good home schedule for them and you can sit lower level between the 20s for about $50 per game.

And they don't come close to selling out.

Damn. Well I'm sure the same can't be said for the basketball program. After all, UNC isn't exactly a football school...

I bought Temple season tickets two seasons ago when they hosted both Notre Dame and Penn State. Ended up not being able to go to any of the games but made a fortune reselling the tickets.

Thats for one ticket per game? I'm sure they have mandatory donation tacked on just like ND

Unlikely. That's pretty rare. I've had Temple and Florida State season tickets and neither one required any kind of donation or university affiliation.

Dean Dome sits 21,000, Kenan Stadium sits 62,000. I think the admin has put dollars into football knowing how profitable it can be but have had lackluster results to show for it. Fanbase just isn't into football like they are basketball - not unlike ND basketball versus ND Football in reverse. Our basketball should be sold out and have people slobbering but instead our 4-8 football team gets a $400 million stadium expansion and jacked up ticket prices.

No donation required - I look into season tickets at nearby schools when we play them in football. ND is always the center of their season and packaged ticket plans. You don't have to donate much to most schools to get planted on the fifty yard line, usually can get between the 20s without seat fees. The donor class is being served in luxury type boxes - Blue zone at UNC for $300-$400 per game includes food and non-alcoholic drinks, cash bar and a parking pass a stone's throw away. Delicate fans that need to stay inside like a basketball game.

NC State had a sizable seat fee which was surprising - they have a tailgate culture that keeps the season tickets flowing - and cling to the hope of beating UNC and Duke in football to make up for getting owned in basketball (which it really doesn't count to Dookies and Tarheels). Slightly smaller stadium seating around 57,000 and surrounded by open parking lots - very conducive to tailgating and alums but students have to bus in pretty much. Kind of funny b/c they are not traveling to ND en masse - even with a nice season in the making. They are fans of tailgating - beating UNC/Duke and occasionally upsetting FSU. The rest of football really doesn't seem to matter to them much.

I hope you understand the difference between the UNC football program and ours. I don't know of any other big name program that would sellout for the first big game of the year.

clearly iknow the difference and im saying most of this tongue in cheek as a season ticket holder who didnt sell.

but it happens everywhere, people take the opportunities to recoup their expenses in one game. and go to the others.

It was not unique to ND. the real issue is we lost because we didnt make plays in that game or were undisciplined on hitting the qb (depending how feel on that call). Crowd didnt cause any of that. It's a red herring for frustrations of the program.

I don't think anyone here has made the claim that because people sold tickets, we lost to Georgia. What we have been saying is, that doesn't happen at other blue blood programs. You wouldn't see Georgia fans selling their tickets when ND plays there en masse. It was an embarrassment whether we won or lost.

Still a ways to go before he's an elite passer but I thought he looked noticeably better tonight.

What a lot of you don’t realize is the refs have been over-inflating the balls before the game to the point it is ridiculous. Not sure what the deal is this year but we have had three balls popped by officials inflating them to the level they want for the game. The game balls are like rocks this year.

100% serious. No clue how he can throw those balls. They are literally hard as rocks.

I thought the play calling was part of the reason he threw under 50%, and that isn't a criticism of the calls. His first throw was a deep ball, those are always lower % throws, and Brandon overthrew it OB. Claypool just barely missed another deep ball. EQ dropped a sure first down, and Josh dropped a wide open screen on 3rd down. Even just change two of those plays, and you have 11/19 which is 58%.

To say Wimbush can't throw is a lie. Those TDs were not throws a bad QB can make. He just needs to keep growing, it's getting better.

Yeah but my faith in him leading the team back from a deficit isn't great.

I think I see him different from other running QBs that struggle. When I watch him play, he can clearly throw the football. I don't mean, he has a strong arm (he does). I mean he can spin the ball. It's hard to quantify what I see. He has zip. He has arm strength. Where he struggles is progression (needs to fix that), and he has a tendency to overthrow. When you see a lot of those run first QBs, they don't overthrow, that's something a guy who has throwing ability does. It can be fixed. I've seen it get fixed in young QBs before.

All that, and I'd say the same as you though.

With the amount of improvement he’s already shown in the passing game, I cannot wait to watch him play the next couple seasons.

IMO- he’s a Heisman front runner next year.
