There's something about stepping into a new season with an unknown at QB, especially after the way this year went, that gives you hope and renewed excitement. Yeah, it's nice when you can bring back experience, but after this season...a reset button just feels good.

Time to get Heilfrich as OC and go full Mariota.

Half kidding.

Only a few snaps behind his belt with none the last 12 months..

I suspect growing pains but he is talented so I can't wait to see what he will turn into.

YOUR TIME IS NOW.

I think our team would of been better in 2017 with DK, Giving BW a year of snaps could make our team lethal in 2018 and 2019

When was the last time that ND went into spring practice without any semblance of a quarterback battle? All of these reps for Wimbush could pay off big time

I think Golson in 2014, but even then, he was coming off a missed season including practice.

If I recall a lot of people thought Zaire would beat him out... Even MZ thought the job was his...

No one will question who job this is this spring...

Very few have had the honor of leading the ND offense, even fewer have been excellent, fewer still are champions. Seize the day young man.

May the weight of expectations fuel your preparation, and may you feel the lift of the ghosts when you honor them with your dedication.

Go BW! Go Irish!

But giving him all the snaps will make him non-lethal in '18 & '19. Got it.

Wasn't Zaire splitting reps with Golson in the Spring though? Certainly by fall time it was just Zaire, but that's why a lot of people were upset about the way Golson chose to leave...players went to the coaching staff to break the news he was transferring after all the reps in the Spring.

Good point! My bad, I misread the into spring.

So then the answer would be Golson heading into '14? Or Dayne Crist into '10?

This. Maybe BK's first year with Crist?

Truly something to this, IMO. Not necessarily with Helfrich but I really think that Kelly needs to speed up the playcalling, like Oregon does. Instead of focusing so much attention on getting into the "perfect" play. Focus on tempo and getting certain players the ball.

This group loves that hashtag. This junior class could be filthy next year on offense. Having CJ, Alize, ESB, Wimbush, Dex, and Adams all juniors. With the expected improvement of the OL and guys like Stepherson coming on. If BK and staff can get on the same page, this offense should be deadly.

I sure hope you are correct. But, our defense has ZERO pass rushers. So, we better out score everyone With a Qb that hasn't yet shown the ability to throw. I just hope you are correct.

We will also have to see who transfers our, and who else gets academic suspensions. Both will come they have for years.

So you disagree that a player's learning curve greatly improves when he plays then when he sits on the bench?

If he sat behind Kizer, in 2018 one would expect him to make a bunch of first time starter mistakes... However, by playing next year, learning and getting better on the field, one would assume he will hit ground running in 2018

You have to wonder if he doesn't break his leg and DeShone doesn't seize his moment as starter would we even be talking about him declaring?

Lot of "What ifs" when you're talking QB development under BK. What if Clausen doesn't leave early, or Crist doesn't get injured, and Tommy doesn't enroll early? What if Hendrix had been the one to enroll early and had more snaps (Probably wouldn't have been much better imo). What if Kiel doesn't transfer? What if Golson never comes back and Zaire gets 2014 to get his feet wet? I feel confidant given our OL and backs that 2014 could have had a few more wins if Zaire had been given a limited offense like Golson got in 2012, we would have had far fewer turnovers that decided games.

Our bad. You could've written that a little clearer (like below), still I should've been able to determine what you meant.

I think our team would've been better in 2017 with DK but giving BW a year of snaps could make our team lethal in 2018 and 2019

I am excited for BW... Just seeing the tweets from Crawford among others makes me think he is the real deal as it comes from the leadership standpoint

Yeah, I could see 2017 being a good year for us. BK has traditionally kept the playbook light for first time starters, and it usually ends up working out well. We had a young team this year. With a bit more experience, hopefully a return to a strong ground game, and a fresh signal caller....I can see good things happening in 2017.
