I vote for dismissing Tillery from the team. His conduct was unsportsman like to the extreme. On the street he would be guilty of assault.

To the extreme? You're nuts. It wasn't exactly the opening scene of "The Last Boyscout"

Not that this excuses what Peppers did, but what Peppers did is certainly not the worst thing I have ever seen:

Holy shit! When did that happen??? And what happened to the Nebraska player?

I vote for banishing you.

Your general misunderstanding of the basic premise of football, which is aggressive desire to destroy your opponent, shows me you lack the foundation this fanbase needs to return to prominence.

We need men that beat the Germans.

Not the kind that waved the white flag, like the French.

Mr. Tillery can be reconciled. But we need nasty meanness.

You know it's real when we start recruiting men to beat the Germans....

Let's not forget LaGarrett Blount punching the Boise State guy I think? Regardless I agree with the sentiment that we need mean nasty guys but what Tillery did is not playing nasty within the confines of the game. That kick to the head on Ware turned my stomach. With unknown head Injuries the last thing you do is move the head. Let alone to do so disrespectfully on an obviously unconscious person.

I didn't see that play or sequence. I had started switching channels and just watched that.

That was unacceptable. Just watched it.

I was referring to him stepping on the guys foot.

That certainly was harsh, Suh-style hate.

Not disagreeing with the rest of your post about Peppers going too far, but just to be clear the OSU fan in question was not "shoving" Peppers or being obnoxious. He had his back turned to him and wasn't aware he was in Peppers path. This is the best breakdown I've seen of it so far:

That's all good analysis. I agree. Peppers overreacted bigly and should face some consequences. Just saying that it's hard to think straight in that moment.

It's a joke that you see this as nasty meanness and a return to prominence.

So I'm going to assume you're actually joking.

We need men who destroy with their bare hands combat-style, and the opponent can't do jack shit about it.

Not passive aggressive cheap baggery the equivalent of pulling hair and flinging sand in the eyes like a Kickboxing puss.

No he wouldn't.
What he did was dumb and dirty, and worse it was cheap shots from a guy who doesn't back it up in the game. But he didn't actually "kick" or "stomp" anyone (both episodes, oddly, looked more subtle and calculated than that). He should apologize, take a one game suspension and seriously think about how he wants to be remembered at Notre Dame. But I don't think you end a young man's career over a couple of mistakes at the end of a hard season.

Like I stated above, I didn't mind the personal foul for stepping on the lineman. That shit happens every play on the line. Whether you see it or not I can assure you.

The kick on the player out of conscientiousness I do not condone.

I played on the defensive line and I can promise you, it's a battle with pinching, fish hooking, eye gouging, etc.

I'm gonna assume you didn't play football if you don't already know that.

I didn't read your comment about the kick. We can agree on that then.

Of all the things that bothered me immensely about Jerry Tillery this season, his on the field antics yesterday at USC were the least of them. Tillery, who underachieved so much of this season and who lacked any signs of life, actually showed some fight in him Saturday. Not productive and not respectful, and i wouldn't want him behaving like this all the time, but our players need a little nasty in them and need to actually be bothered by the disgraceful efforts and execution they displayed this season. Now if Tillery can control that rage and put it toward something positive on the field next year then he might wind up being the player we all expected him to be.

If Tillery kicking a possibly unconscious dude intentionally in the head is the least of your worries regarding him, you need help.

His punishment fit the crime in both incidents. He didn't kick him...his foot literally grazed Ware's head as in "get up". If I didn't see the play I would swear he curb stomped the kid by how some of you are reacting. It was unsportsmanlike, but it wasn't as diabolical as some of you think either. He got chewed out, he got a flag, it's over...move on

The dude was laying there unconscious, after being smoked in the head. I mean, grazing his head could've litterally fucked him up for good. At that point nobody knew the extent of the injury. It was far worse than unsportsmanlike.

Tillery now has a reputation and maybe he can tRanslate that into a more aggressive type of player on the field like #90 on Stanford who is an intellectual and set our lunch all day. Someone needs to light some fire under this team so they start playing mean instead of Kellyesque pu$$y football. Nicco F should be our example for next year.

They can walk across my thick ankles all day. I'll trade that all days for the blindside hits I used to take as a MLB and shotgun/long snapper. Spearing was legal on centers in my day and had my bell rung more than once by a few future pros. Groin shots are also a lot worse.

Mathews can attest to this RIGHT now. He got decleated tonight.
