I'm not saying he should or will but Barajas is one to watch this summer for a possible transfer.

kid would definitely be processed out if he was at a football factory school. He's basically become Kendall Moore.

I would be shocked to see him transfer. He has a lot of friends here and his longtime girlfriend attends St Mary's. He also sees the value of the ND degree.

Why? He's buried on the depth chart and in danger of being further buried by true freshmen. If he's not pulling his weight, I'd rather a scholarship open.

But the scholarships are never full, anyway. It'd be better to hope that he's a special teams contributor. That's more useful than a scholarship that's not getting us to 85 either way.

he screwed himself by being overweight....once you get behind the 8 ball especially in the coaches eye, def hard to overcome ....his own doing and he even had a clean slate w/ a new dc and if he can't cut it then he at least gets a great education for free of charge....either way its a win for him

I wonder how much is conditioning/diet and how much is just not having a body to be a D1 LB.....he didn't even look in that great of shape coming in and he was too small then. I just don't think he has the body type to play at this level and be anything other than maybe a ST guy. From high school to now, there was no comparison to Bilal in terms of who could fly around and actually make plays at LB. Which is kind of bizarre cause Kelly/Franklin both have a good eye for talent. You never hear anything bad about the kid (from what I can remember of the top of my head), so as long as he's a good team-guy then whatever. I just don't expect him to contribute at all unfortunately.

he's another that needs to step the heck up....he has shown flashes(very minimal ones) but with his skill set i figured he would have been a lot better than what we have seen...interested to see w/ him this year especially utilizing his skill set better

I guess we don't know a whole lot of "100%" info on the defense yet, but if a viable second safety makes the staff feel comfortable, then Tranquil is our base "rover."

Bilal needs a shot to be the guy that spells Tranquil, or plays in the fourth when we're up a few scores. Put his feet to the fire at opportune times, and get him hungry for next year when Tranquil (though maybe not) and Martini are gone.

It seems to me that Tranquil and Bilal are already the ROVERs with opponent, down & distance determining who's in with different packages.

You mean when Tranquill gets hurt again?

Too soon?

You didn't say anything everyone was already thinking. Anyone besides me think he'll forego any celebrations that will require jumping in the air?

Bilal plays soft IMO. Athlete, not physical.

Previously, you'd follow up this sentence with the prediction that Barajas was going to pass Bilal and start to shine.

What was it Bilal doesn't walk mean enough after plays or something absurd?

you may be

It's the only thing that makes sense. He was a much better P5 college LB prospect than either of the ND takes.

Is that a personal opinion? Because Barajas (137) to Kirkland Jr.'s (163) was actually ranked higher by the 247 composite. Bilal was (184), so he was pretty close. I don't think saying clear cut, he was a much better prospect would be accurate. You might think he was better, but there are a lot of data points to say it was pretty close.

I think Kirkland's film was better playing against 3 tier higher talent than Barajas faced every week. His college performance has confirmed to me at least what I thought, the better athlete and prospect became the better football player up to this point anyway.
