Ravens rookie WR Miles Boykin earning starting status

Article analyzing his first preseason game:
Miles Boykin’s night was overshadowed by inconsistent play. He found early playing time with the starters, but failed to execute when balls were thrown his way. Boykin dropped a pass early in the first quarter but recovered later by using his large frame and extended length to pluck the ball away from the defender and push forward for a first down. Then Boykin dropped another pass, this time from backup QB Trace McSorley, mid-second quarter. Boykin finished the half strong by catching three beautifully thrown passes from McSorley. Each throw resulted in chunk-yardage, and one pass went for a touchdown. However, the touchdown was nullified due to a holding penalty from the LT. In the end, Boykin finished with four catches for 39 yards. Overall, Boykin recovered relatively well from a rocky start and will surely improve after last night’s performance.

Baltimore released the guy who I thought was their best redzone threat, though I didn't pay much attention to Baltimore this year outside of their games against Cincy.

And their fans are celebrating the news like he was a villain... any Ravens fans here that can shed some light on the situation?

Not a Raven fan, but Miles was hurt almost all season, and the Ravens needed salary cap lightening. They cut three potential starters to achieve that --- Miles was the least expensive of them. It is rumored that Pittsburgh might be interested now that he is free.

Not a ravens fan either but because I live in MD and my wife’s family follows them I keep up with them. I haven’t seen anything of them cheering. I know he dropped some catches when he first got there. I just don’t honk he lived up to what they thought he would be. He’ll be a good pick up for someone though.

How many of you had Boykin being in the league longer than Claypool?

Crazy - But claypool will still go down with more yards catches and tds in the nfl.

I thought he mentally turned the corner at ND his sophmore year, can't believe what he's become. He is visiting with the seahawks though

That wasn't the question.

Is he absolutely done? This is all I could find.

I thought Boykin/Claypool is a metaphor for the BK 2.0 era. A great college receiving threat retarded by the lack of a quarterback to get them the ball.
