Boykin would help his draft stock if he stayed and gained a little weight and played TE.

Umm Fuller, Tate, even St. Brown is doing okay.

If Fuller can ever stay healthy, he has All-Pro potential. Granted, playing w/ one of the best WR in the NFL opens up more opportunities but we have all seen how special Fuller can be.

Tate is a perennial 80 catch, 1000 yard WR so he will end up w/ a nice career. He reminds me of Rickey Watters: HoF #s & Super Bowl chamionship despite playing on multiple teams & never being a league MVP. Not saying those two are apples-to-apples b/c I won’t be surprised if Watters eventually gets inducted into the HoF but there’s enough simlarities.

I think hes an UDFA at this point. St. Brown got drafted late on pure potential via the Combine. Boykin lacks those attributes.

Boykin is without a doubt our best in terms of stats, but I'm not so sure he the "best". Personally I'd love him to stay, but I think he (and Finke) is the "safe" play for BK. Less upside, but phenomenal hands and consistent.

Our O could be "formidable" like OMM suggested if the OL comes along and we find a RB (Jafar development hopefully) and at WR..... if some guys were moved around. Let Austin have the W. Let Claypool/Lenzy/Young rotate heavily at X, and Keys/Finke rotate heaving at Z. If he stays... move Miles back and forth between W and Z. Some speed packages, and some hands packages... would love to see Austin/Lenzy/Keys as the speed. Austin/Boykin/Keys or Boykin/Lenzy//Finke would also be great matchup problems.

Regardless, WR, with or without Boykin is one of the lowest concerns on the list. My concerns, in order are OL, LB, DT, CB, and RB. WR/TE/S/DE/QB are more than fine.

And most important, Boykin is probably best served leaving now (for himself).

I do wonder/hope that - now designing an offense for an experienced Book instead of unreliable Wimbush/rookie Book - Kelly and Long take some of the reins off the passing game. Maybe lean a little less on uber-reliable types like Boykin and Finke and a little more on high-upside guys like Lenzy, Young and Austin. We'll see.

I don't think we should squander Austin to feed Boykin, not at all. But I like having Boykin there too. I also don't think we should underestimate the off-field leadership a veteran like him can provide. We will need that next year.

Sampson wrote the other day that the staff expects him back FYI

He feels that way this morning too, but he also felt confident about Love coming back soooooo I don’t think he truly knows what is going to happen

Very well might be right. Boykin wouldn’t be near as big of a loss as Okwara. Have to get him back.

I don't understand why he wouldn't come back. He's not gonna be a 4th 5th round pick like another poster stated. You can't have to many 5th year seniors on your roster but he's gonna run 4.6 4.7 he's not gonna get any bigger or faster really. He is who he is and there are 200 Miles Boykin's trying to make the NFL. Does he do anything differently then anyone else at his size? He's not gonna blow you away downfield ever. I would love to have him back for leadership and clutch catches. Would love to see other guys get those catches as well.

I think he is a 4th/5 round pick if he stays I gurante he doesn’t have as much yards or catches next year with guys like Kevin austin lurkin. Austin needs to play and play a lot, he turns it up another level once the balls in his hands

What would you like to bet on this?

I mean I respect it but going from 4th.5th round pick to undrafted is drastic.

Not really. It's a matter of a few GMs deciding they'd rather fill a different hole in their roster and figuring there are decent WRs in the UDFA pile. A 5th round pick will get ~$275,000 signing bonus, which is nice, but at the start of training camp, what exactly is the difference between a 5th rounder and a UDFA?

FWIW, right now, Walter Football doesn't have Boykin ranked in its top 50 WRs for the 2019 draft. (Claypool is 12th)

Going pro. Didn’t Loy say he talked to a source and everyone is expected back? “Unless they have a change of heart they will all be back”

Well Mack
Love
Boykin

All gone. Great for Miles though and thank you for doing everything ND asked and then some. Good luck in the NFL Miles. Will always be a fan of who you were on and off the field.

ISD said he was almost certainly leaving, Pete needs better sources.

Figures the one time I decide not to post a rumor from reddit it turns out to be true. Oh well. Good luck to him. Its always nice to have a veteran back over an unproven commodity, but WR was the one position I was confident in our younger guys. Hopefully he is able to put up some good numbers at the combine because that seems like the only thing that would drag down his draft stock.

I think this will be a positive. The young wideouts have more potential. Now they will get a better share of the reps. With that said good luck to Miles!

Good luck to Miles.

So with the guys coming back and going that we know of, what’s the scholarship situation like?

Good luck Miles.

I’m very curious what the rating and feedback Miles Boykins got from the NFL.

I think it is what it is and I’m not sure he would raise his stock this year. He’s been who he’s always been and there is nothing wrong it it. He got his degree and balled out for ND. I know you aren’t bashing him so I’m not saying you are.

No not at all. I understand why he is leaving and I would understand if he stayed.

I was referring to more the rumors that the grade he got was higher than anticipated.

Reminds me of Adams leaving early. Best for both groups, and while there’s question marks about our current depth at the position, it should allow for some more talent to get looks.
