Wake me up when ESB wins a 50/50 ball. Hell, wake me up when he shows he can make consistent catches in any kind of tight coverage at the NFL level. He has always been big, always been able to run... in his 3 total NFL catches he has not shown anything yet to say he has improved on the things he is bad at.
One can argue he caught 50/50 balls just fine in 2016, and was on his way to improving. In 2017, he had a QB that was inaccurate, and relied too much on 50/50 balls. For the record, I'm fine with a few 50/50 balls per game, but it should not be over relied on. And it was last year.
Here's ESB's highlights from 2016 with DK. There's two or three 50/50 highlights and tight coverage, and there's several plays where he's showing a ton of effort after the catch. And, there's several showing him get the ball in stride, which rarely happened last year for obvious reasons.
Do I like his attitude. No. Did I like pops being a helicopter parent. No. Do I like that he left. No. But I do understand why he left, and probably would have done the same given the QB he thought he'd be returning to, and the likelihood his draft stock wouldn't get any better given that same QB issue.
