It's really too bad that Mariota came back. I really have no clue why he did. If he didn't they'd be in line for a painful season.

As is, they avoid USC. They have a "tough" OOC game against MSU plus games against Stanford and UCLA in conference. Outside of that a lot of easy or mediocre teams.

Oh good call. Forgot about not playing USC.

Based on my knowledge, none of them were the same as Barnett's recruitment. Barnett literally went out of his own way to show how committed he was, time after time, only to JUST NOW, have second thoughts? The one's mentioned either were typical flips or had incentive to jump ship. (Redfield jumped ship after USC's mediocre season put Kiffin on the hot seat) Ones like Tranquill, Williams and Mokwuah were just a matter of getting the big offer they wanted. None of them were committed to perennial football powers. With Barajas, he's from Indiana, loved ND and let's face it, Penn State isn't exactly a stable program right now. Paste point 3 for Jones and Fuller. Penn State is just gonna have to deal with the fact that scandal is going to make recruiting a lot harder, and keeping commits will be a bigger challenge.

Liked him a hell of a lot more than Kizer. Guys like Maty Mauk and Mahalak I love for the college game. Just my opinion.

Mahalak killed it at the opening right after he committed to Oregon if I recall, and he DESPERATELY wanted an ND offer.

I'm just saying, I think Mahalak's a stud, and Blake's going to be #2 for a year or two at either ND or Oregon, so it's really a wash.

And communications degree at Oregon? What? It just doesn't add up to me. It sounds pre-textual. But if there ever was a recruit to take what he says at face value, I really think it's Blake. Maybe I'm naive.

Wait, a highly touted Cali kid is having second thoughts about coming to ND? This can't be true?!?!? *fart noise*

Pinning hopes and dreams on a seventeen year old is plain crazy.

He probably just lost on Candy Crush Saga. My wife has the same response. Apparently that game is pretty addicting.

If Barnett ends up at Oregon, I give very very little chance to Mahalak keeping Barnett off the field.

Justin Hopkins tweeting a picture of "beautiful" Eugene, OR. Totally not a fan of the Ducks.

Eugene kind of sucks. Lots of people with face tattoos with their dogs on leashes made out of rope recovered from dumpster diving. At least that's how it was back in 96. Here's some funny archival news footage.

Resist & Exsist Newsclips 1996 Eugene, OR - YouTube

I just drove through there last week. Absolute shithole. We were kind of shocked as the rest of the PNW had been so pretty.

Not that South Bend is great... but the campus isn't in South Bend.

To tweet out a picture of Eugene is just... God I hate Hopkins so much. But congrats to him on doing a small part to manipulate a potential star to play for his favorite team.

Hopkins seems like a power tool. I'd wait for a little more reporting on this - and a little chance for the Barnett family to discuss matters and for Kelly & Co. to counterpunch - before deciding the sky has fallen. No?

Big time drug scene in that town. I posted that footage half jokingly because the last time I was there was during the weekend covered in that footage.

Portland is awesome though.

Yeah, Portland was awesome. Really unique city with a lot of character. We did all the touristy stuff like Voodoo Donuts and then just got really, really drunk haha

Every time i see an OU commit, I always think that Eugene is a dump. I live on the west coast and have stopped in Eugene a bunch driving from LA to Seattle to visit family. Not impressed. By the way, Eugene is a looonnggg way fom Corona, Ca.

While Im at it, USC is in the heart of a terrible area. I work with the muck and mire of the world, and I am often working near SC. However, I like where UCLA and Stanford are though.

The weather in Eugene is terrible too. It's like the Scottish moors or something. Always cloudy, drizzly and cold no matter what season.

USC itself is a nice campus, though. And it's in L.A., which has a little something to offer. Eugene, well, is not.

OT- if your ever back in town I'll buy ya a beer. I love Portland but couldn't agree more on Eugene it's a shithole and Ducks fans are largely of the white trash variety, not kidding. In fact you'll see some of the most ridiculous stuff from Duck fans. It's pretty widely known in the Pac12 that they have the worst fans and a huge sense of entitlement inside the program from Uncle Phil. The football program is not what I would consider quality.
