When he arrived from Nigeria in August, Prince Tega Wanogho Jr. had never played football Now, he's a top-100 prospect

I've never seen so many jokes from a fan base with a recent player with the same name

Is he actually a prince? The Auburn article calls him Tega Wanogho Jr.

More on topic, do we honestly have any shot? Being that he lives in Alabama, me thinks no, but he is from Nigeria and we've seen to have done rather well with players of direct African descent. I'd hope he has grades as a top priority.

Interesting article.

"I know they know about him, but Alabama hasn't really offered but a handful of kids for 2016 and they are getting ready for an important game so I know that has not been where their attention is with the 2016 class," said Carr. "To be honest, he has no idea about any of the schools that are recruiting him. He is pulling out a map to find out where the schools are, so I know he will take his visits, attend camps and pray on it. He is a religious kid and I just told him we wanted him to have a peace about wherever he decided to go.

"He has the maturity of a 40-year old man. One day when he was sick and we took him back to my house to rest, I got back and he had cleaned up my kitchen and took out the trash. That is the kind of kid he is. I look up in the bleachers one day during P.E. and he is just cutting up with a 10-year old kid like there was nothing to it. There is just an air about him where everyone enjoys being around him."

Tega, a 4.0 student, reinforced his coach's thoughts on recruiting as he is in absolutely no hurry to make a decision.

I would sell my soul to see Prince Tega Wanogho Jr and Prince Sammons as Notre Dame's two 6'8 280+ DEs dominating on the field.

I think it has more to do with the fact that he's Nigerian... and named Prince.

for me, it was just the name Prince; it always makes me think of Coming to America and the "He's got his own money" line from that movie. Whether he is an actual prince or not, doesn't really come into play for me.

You would think him not being a Bama native would give us a little help. No hometown allegiances

Should we just have a staff member assigned to scouting Nigeria at this point?

In all seriousness though, do any programs scout internationally, or is football too US-specific? I know tons of basketball programs that keep one eye overseas for talent.

Not likely. That would be extremely expensive and time consuming to send a coach/recruiter overseas on a consistent basis, and have to get immunized and paperwork/passports. Generally, most foreign athletes trying to play college ball come here.

My first thought when I saw Elmore, AL was that we had no shot, at all, but since he has only been there a year maybe there is hope.
