Not to be nit picky, but he threw a terrible ball right into double coverage in the first half...nearly picked.

But yes, he will be the highest rated QB if he keeps up this pace of good decision making, ability to run, and making all the throws.

I don't remember that play but I haven't since watched highlights because losing the first game to Texas was too painful. I'll take your word for it.

could ND really loose both kizer and zaire after this year?
That's what i thought would happen going into fall camp.

Kizer leaves for the NFL.

Zaire is a cry baby and transfers at the end of fall semester, before Kizer announces.

Wimbush takes over next year, with Ian #2 and Davis #3 and hopefully he redhsirts.

Kind of harsh to call him cry baby especially since most of the fan base doesn't even want him to play. If he transfers it would be nothing different than half the schools around the country that lose QB's to transfer. I believe Wimbush has more potential than Zaire and will jump him on the depth chart if Kizer were to head to the NFL next year.

So if he is a competitor like he appears, I'm sure he doesn't want to spend his college football years as a clipboard holder.

Thank God. Admitting a starter is the first step to actually anointing a starter. It's already cost you 1 L (IMO), don't get bit twice.

Good. I hope plays until we're up 5 TDs at the start of the 4th Quarter. Then let Zaire play out the rest of the game to get some reps. Go Irish!

Really hope "starter" doesn't just mean "first series". Very worried BK is going to flip flop during the first half again.

Could be true, but per Sampson at II tweeted that, " Kizer expects to be the only QB this weekend."

Would embed if I knew how too.

Weird. BK must have read all of the outrage after his comments the other night on IE, and listened to the board.

OR

He wanted to talk to the QB's in person and announce the decision after a practice.

So strange how that works.

The only way Malik should get on the field is in a package situation where they feel Malik will excel. He should get no more series until we have a comfortable lead. I'm sorry, he seems like a good dude, but this is big time college football, he lost the battle. You don't get to alternate because the coach likes you and wants you to be happy. Kizer gives us the best chance to win. Put it in his hands. Kelly may see it differently, but that's my take.

I'm all about the 3-3-5 if we have the hybrid backer. But we don't, so0o0o 4-3 it is. I really don't like our DL balance. Too many big bodies, not enough athleticism.

Vance Bedford basically telling BK to start Kizer

The 3-3-5 is for Big-12 teams that have to defend against an air raid attack most weeks. And it works great if your roster is stacked with small, fast and competent DBs. That ain't us; in fact, that's arguably the defensive formation our roster is least able to field well.

Had we based out of a 4-3 more against UT, they wouldn't have run all over us.

F*cking around with a QB rotation and trying to utilize a funky DB-heavy formation are two of the only ways we could have managed to throw the game against Texas, and Kelly opted to do both.

Oh I agree 4-3 is our best bet for the teams on our schedule. We're going to be dealing with running teams with no real passing teams until the back end of the schedule. I just like the 3-3-5 system in concept because of all the passing going on.

I'd be interested to see how many times they threw against our 4 man front and the 3 man front and how successful they were.

I went back and read this thread up to the point where he committed. Deshone is by the far the biggest "hit" that Brian Kelly has had at Notre Dame. It is crazy to think that the staff didn't offer right away and if they wouldn't have offered, he was pretty much a sure thing for LSU. I don't know if LSU would've developed him like this staff has, but could you imagine Kizer and Fournette on the same team? They might've had back-to-back undefeated seasons.
