Bingo. He has utterly refused to accept any amount of blame for this defensive debacle. Wtf, was he not watching the game or does the rotating #1 confuse him?

A manager says "this wasn't my fault."

A leader says "this is my fault and here's how we fix it."

Which one is Kelly?

To be fair, if you actually listen to the presser, he took TONS of responsibility. I have a much higher opinion of him today than I did Saturday.

Kelly took a lot of the blame during the press conference.

I agree. He knocked it out of the park today. Best PC he's had in a long, long time.

He seemed like firing BVG was a relief much more the normal Kelly. Should be interesting rhe game plan Kelly has for the defense.

Not sure why you expect anything different from the internet, specifically this community...

I've been a BK supporter, but this year has me questioning how he runs things behind the scenes. It's great that he has accepted responsibility, but it's been his responsibility since the day he was hired. I hope this firing fixes the mental makeup of this team. If it doesn't, then IMO BK has reached his time limit at ND.

Poor look by Hayes making the going to sleep gesture right in the middle of the screen on the Fertita hit.

Can someone tell me why this kid didn't play for snaps this year? Especially over Trumbetti who didn't even register a tackle for a loss?

IVE BEEN WINDERING THE SAME THING SINCE TEXAS. Trumbetti didn't impress me on one single play all year. It seems as though he has ZERO pass rushing skills.

One of the biggest mysteries...in a mysteries year. Right up there with why Latua only played special teams and was not in on offensive to be a crushing blocker like in 2015

I am thinking his history of multiple concussions. It would not shock me to learn that instead of allowing him to transfer the BYU and freeing up a scolarship that they convinced him to come back and didnt let him play. Such BK So Notre Dame.

Hayes: 10 games played in - 10 tackles - 2 solo - .5 tackles for loss - 1 QB hurry.
Trum: 12 games played in - 25 tackles - 9 solo - .5 tackles for loss - 3 QB hurries.

efficiency/snaps unknown...to me.

I've not seen a snap count but I suspect Trumbetti got a lot more of them. We need Jay Hayes to be a big contributor next year. The guy is talented.

I agree. Daelin Hayes as well. I don't like bad-mouthing ND players but whatever it takes to give Trumbetti less snaps. He's EASILY our lowest performing starter.

Hayes is much better suited for SDE which was covered this year by Rochell and Bonner. Trumbetti and Daelin Hayes were better suited for WDE. Hayes has a real shot at being starting SDE next season.

Agree hope Hayes starts a SDE. If Cage does have to retire maybe we roll out a lineup of Hayes -Tillery at NT - Bonner at DT - Daelin Hayes/Trumbetti

Please don't put Trumbetti with Hayes, just Hayes and then from a far Okwara.
