Olin Kreutz called him the smartest center in the room in a long long time.. Can read defenses and protections to adjust at the line apparently is what he has been saying.. Good on ya Sam.. Now just get rid of Leno Jr. and Iefedi.

Sam is playing pretty well for the Bears now. The Bears could be in a position where they take Eich and have 2 Irish on the starting OL with Bars backing up the Guards.

As to Sam being the smartest center in the OLine room for some time at The Bears: I'll repeat what I've posted before on Pro coach opinions of ND OLinemen --- if you want to get a lineman who is job ready in that he already knows how to play without you having to coach him up out of bad techniques or understandings, there are four programs which you can count on. The programs named were Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Iowa, and ...? I've forgotten the 4th but it might have been Stanford. (It was not an SEC, ACC, or Big12 team, nor a non-group 5.)

So no surprise that once again the Notre Dame Olineman was the smartest guy in the room.

Shilo got cut too. Not even practice squad! He did get a nice punch and kicked out of the game right in front of the ref after he was getting manhandled by some white taller TE. He was getting cut anyways. Shadiuer Sanders being kept for now for sympathy reason.
