Imo this like picking up a top 150 recruit for the defense. Glad he is coming back.

Awesome. Great news. Think his leadership will really make a difference in 18. I think he will have insight into why the team fell away last few weeks.

I can't help but feel that this is the wrong decision for Drue

Maybe it speaks to the culture now within the program and on defense? He probably wants more of what Elko is providing after the BVG shitshow. I just hope he can remain injury free and make the most of this decision. He's a warrior.

Tillery is probally a late 3rd round to 4th round pick if he comes back and has another great year he could be a first round pick, coney is more like a 5th-6th round guy if he comes back he could be a 2nd-3rd round guy, Watkins should come back, Hayes as wel

So this is good for ND football but for the kid personally he should have left and gone pro. He is injury prone and I dont think his draft stock is going to get higher. Same think with Josh Adams. I dont want him to return to school. Not because they are not good but because I want them to succeed as individuals.

This was happening long before bvg even. ND has done a great job bringing back 5th years under Kelly. Floyd, Martin, McGlinchey, (Nelson but not a 5th year) now Drue. There are probably more.

This is huge because I don't think Coney comes back and you don't want all new LBs.

Do we really want Drue back though? I am sure he is taking valuable reps away from a much more talented underclassman.

I mean he is averaging 10 tackles a game but I want guy that dominates every game and i bet he is on the bench right now cuz BK sucks at coaching.

If the NFL doesn’t want him why should ND? Just like Josh.

Did I do that right?

I mean, if it’s right for him, it’s right for him.

He loves Notre Dame. Much respect to him for doing his own thing, and not folding to the pressures of money.

Yep. I bet all my vbucks Drue wouldnt become a everydown player in the NFL so he couldnt possibly be expected to play against the likes of Georgia.

Success is relative. The moment matters also. No matter what happens, this guy is going to succeed. My bet is that it will be much bigger than football.

Aren’t you a veteran here? There is no downside to veteran leadership.

If Coney actually ends up leaving that's insane to me. What exactly does he think his draft stock is? I'm shocked he's even entertaining the idea of leaving when he has the ability to increase his value significantly by returning and dominating as an every down starter.

Couldn't agree more if he has a year like he did this last year which he should considering martini isn't gonna be here I think he will be a round 1-2 selection,

I highly doubt having him back is a bad thing at all.

I agree Coney should come back, and if he does he will likely play himself into a higher round. But except for maybe Julian Love he was probably the best player on our defense this year, so you can see why he'd entertain the notion.

I suspect both Tranquil and Adams will do just fine as individuals, no matter what they do in the NFL. And if they want to spend another year in college being senior captains of the University of Notre Dame's football team, that's pretty successful in its own right.
