I mean, they're playing the Citadel. Not going to be a very exciting game IMO. Atmosphere won't be anything like Georgia/FSU game.

Not quite true. That place is electric no matter who they play. The Citadel and Clemson battle academically in the state as well, regardless of the Citadel's size and conference. It will be a good event to be at.

I work for an engineering firm and half of the staff are Clemson grads, 40% are Citadel grads. Been a pretty eventful week around the office so far.

I'll bet all the vBucks you want that if he visits he's 100% gone. No info, just gut feeling.

I will take ND vs. the field for 50 million.

This bet is only pushed into action IFF he takes either an official or unofficial visit to any team outside of Florida before he signs.

Deal?

If he's really visiting a friend who's on Clemson's team, then maybe he didn't think it would be necessary to mention it to the staff.

Any recruit would have to understand the implications of sneaking on a visit. The staff puts a lot of time and effort into them, and I would hope that kids wouldn't show that much disrespect for the coaches as to not even tell them he is going someplace before it gets back to them in rumors. Could create some really bad tension that is easily avoided. Now to the other side of things....if it is just a visit to a friend I don't think that's a big deal. But you know that he'll be working to flip him anyway.

I think you guys really overestimate the psyche of 17-18 year old kids.

Yes. I went to colleges as much as possible when I was in high school. Partied, stayed the weekend, banged older women. It was awesome.

to the tape, you're on.

Wait, I thought I was betting LAX lol. Ok, I'll take your action instead. Are going straight sign/no sign or are we adding any caveats (i.e. academic issues, falls off face of the Earth, etc)?

I'll put up $1 billion vbucks that he signs with ND. LMK if you want the action.

Absolutely. Taking all action that IF he makes a visit that he is gone. He has made a number of very emphatic pro-ND statements lately (as recent as yesterday) but I think the proof is in the pudding.

Ok, so the bet is contingent on a visit. Otherwise, bet is null and void.

tko - our bet is regardless or its it also contingent on visit?

^This. When I was a senior, I probably visited every one of my teammates that graduated the year before just for a weekend of "the college life". Maybe Yeargin is thinking of flipping, and that would suck, but I don't fault a kid for going to Clemson for an all-expenses-paid party. Let's see what comes out of it; we've lost recruits after visits, but we've also dodged that bullet a number of times as well.

I work with teenagers for a living and have done so over the past ten years all over the southeast. I can tell you that they are much more in tune than most adults give them credit for. As a general rule they may not care, but the athletes understand much more than the average student about not screwing up their future - it is all many of them have.

II says nothing set in stone on visit to Clemson. He has a major playoff game tonight in S. Florida.

Then maybe your to close to woods and can't see the forest through the trees.

As Cack said, I remember what it was like to be a 17 year old kid with total disregard for adults and living in the moment. I still made good life decisions, but that doesn't mean that I would think through the effects on adults when considering visiting my buddy at Clemson to bang coeds.

You're way overthinking this.

My experience working with high schoolers is that they are much more ‘street wise’ than we were at that age, but don’t know shizz about anything beyond ‘the street’...

just my two cents

Yeah, absolutely. I'm a huge proponent of actions > words. If he's making visits it's one thing, if he's not making visits it's an entirely different scenario.

Besides sounding borderline insulting, I think you are taking what I said wrong. I also remember what's it's like to make dumb 17 year old choices on the spot. What I am saying is that I think you far underestimate kids' ability to understand consequences. I know some of the coaches of Dillon Bates, I spent a lot of time around KINGSLEY OPARA, I spent time aroundDEANDRE BROWN, I grew up playing with and against guys like David Pollack, David Green, Jeff Francoeur, and Brian McCann. The one thing they all had in common was that they did not want to ruin their future by making a dumb choice. Now for every one of them their is a situation like Nate Starks, but by and large they see these opportunities for what they really are. Kids don't want to get an offer pulled.

No one is going to pull this kids offer and he knows it. Going on a visit, even unannounced to the staff, isn't going to effect his recruitment whatsoever.

Not sure what the point was around all of the name dropping and if saying that you "may be too close to the forest" is insulting, then you need to grow some thicker skin.
