Kyle Allen and Kyler Murray is a stupid two year haul at QB. The JFF card is a pretty sick weapon when Sumlin talks to a QB

Feel like the JFF card shouldn't have as a big of impact on pro styles like Allen. Murray I can see the appeal. Hills a dual threat too isn't he?

Screw johnny manziel. Kevin Sumlin is the real playmaker. He gets QB production like nobody else. His offense and play calling would have made Tommy Rees a Heisman contender.

That's kinda my point. Sumlin is justified in taking credit for a lot of what JFF was in college. Complete freedom to be a playmaker is something only a few coaches offer

I don't like him. I just recognize what he's done running OU, Houston, and t a&m's offenses.

I also predict the league and media members will soon start putting him in the Jeff Tedford/Steve Spurrier/other coaches of the past category of openly questioning if his QB's can actually succeed in the pro game.

I believe Kelly was able to pull the maximum for Tommy Rees. We won 9 games last season against a top 25 SOS and almost hit double digits if it weren't for the pit failure.

I highly doubt any other coach could've pulled more from Tommy.

Last year was not an enjoyable year for me. Once Golson was out for the season, it was all about keeping program going in positive direction and surviving.

Rees gave everything he had to give. Rees is a Notre Dame man. Kelly did not panic. Notre Dame finished top 25. Program stayed in positive direction. The very best that could be expected after Golson is out and Kiel is gone.

These Tony Rice type of QB's make horrible NFL QB's!

The point is, Sumlin has taken not very highly regarded QB's and had them set conference and national records, at 3 different schools.

If Tommy Rees was throwing for 4 or 5 thousand yards under BK, then I'd believe BK was as good of a college OC/play caller/QB coach as Sumlin.

So assuming Sumlin is very good, how much of an impact do you think Johnny Manziel makes? I remember quite a few ridiculously athletic plays that you really can't coach.

I thought Allen was very good when I saw him last year but after seeing KJ Costello and Josh Rosen this year, he's not in their league. Ricky Town was probably more impressive too. Kyle Allen owes a lot of his ranking to Mark Andrews who was a beast at the HS level. I look forward to seeing what he can do at OU next year. Playing against good Phoenix competition last year he was a combination of Eifert and Samardzija. Would have loved to have MA at ND.

The QB position is going to be interesting in College Station over the next few years.
