I'm not getting my hopes up that this will happen and it's really not the Packers' MO.

I also have some reservations.

1. his cap hit would be above $5MM and that would strap us the rest of this year should anything else happen and we need to sign someone.

2. He could easily be a 3 month rental as his rookie contract expires this year. , so have to be very careful how much capital we give up for him. Pack still have David Bakhtiari, Aaron Jones and Kevin King (unlikely) to consider with expiring contracts. How would they prioritize Fuller with these others?

3. Injury history. He has been balling out and healthy this year but obviously has an extensive injury history and has yet to play a full season. So do we gamble giving up capital for a guy who could be sidelined at any minute?

THat's why I'm not getting my hopes up, the Pack have a lot of things to consider before pulling the trigger here and I could see another interested team easily topping whatever we'd be willing to offer.

Killing it today with 137 yards and a TD will still 12 min left.

Should put him at just under 850 yards and 7 tds on the year, easily on pace for his first 1000 yard season.

Was worried I was going to open this thread and see that he broke every bone in his body. But damn, this guy will do anything to prevent that breakout year.

Bummer on the PEDs, but I'm not sorry the Colts won't have to watch him scoring TDs..

As much as I love the guy, not buying it. It’s so easy for players to get the straight scoop from the team or league offices.

Yup 100%. Professional teams all have have top of the line sports sciences programs and in house medical staff. Any time someone pops hot, I refuse to give the benefit of the doubt.

Yup. I'd love to know what the medication was, and what for. I'd give him the benefit of the doubt if he came out with the details, and it was for an actual condition and medication that we wouldn't normally connect to performance enhancement. But I'm sure the details, since he's not sharing, would pretty much cement things.

Dollars to donuts it was something to hasten the recovery/strengthen his hammy. Isn’t that what usually holds him back? He’s soon to be a FA so he knows he has to ball out. Can’t do that w/ a shaky hammy.

I'd bet is was just general enhancement stuff. Probably something that's supposed to be out of his system quick, but just didn't age out as expected.

In short, every NFL player has the resources to have their meds checked/validated. Not sure why they just don't make it a condition of employment. I'm sure the PA and owners are happy to let things slide as much as possible though. I wouldn't doubt if the team doctor was like "what did you do, you know you're supposed to drink 2 gallons of water a day for 3 straight days" lol..

Maybe. The Texans seem to be run very poorly. Wouldn’t doubt if that extends to all areas of the organization.

Seeing how there’s 5 games left, does that mean if the Texans don’t make the playoffs then he will be out the first game of next year too?

If so that’ll really torpedo his FA value, as now instead of being probably the hottest WR on the market on pace for 1300 yards, he will be looked at as a receiver who has never played a full season and is guaranteed to not be able to do next year as well.

I've known a few HGH/Roid folks over the last 35ish years. Most know how to play the game. I'm sure it's a lot more prevalent in the NFL than most think.

I'd be more than fine if the Colts got a team friendly deal from him lol.

The whole "I unknowingly took this medicine that I thought was approved" bullshit is such a bad look. NOBODY, literally nobody, believes that. I'd rather see a guy just say "yep, I screwed up" than try to make themselves look like the victim.

Just want to point out, Brian Cushing is the assistant strength and conditioning coach... Fuller and robey at the same time???? Coincidence, maybe but could be more

He's either dumb or a bad liar.

He's certainly not dumb. As far as a liar, he's feeding the same line the rest of the league uses, so he'd be in good company. Part of me wonders if maybe some of these doctors just don't do their due diligence or if there's false positives with some of these. Golden Tate was pretty outspoken about players that take PEDs, and then he came back with a positive test later which would make him a pretty big hypocrite. He seemed pretty surprised by the result, and even appealed it I think, which makes me think the rules on the list of approved medications are more vague than we perceive.

The reality is probably something along the lines of what Irish YJ and Irishize have talked about. He knew this was a big year for him as far as contract negotiations. Hopkins was gone, and unless he balled out he either doesn't get resigned based on his injury history, or he gets a crappy deal. He needed to make sure something like a hammy wasn't going to hold him back, so he rolls the dice on something to get him in good shape quicker and hope he either eludes testing or he balls out and shows he can earn a bigger paycheck while he has the time.

I'll take the unpopular position that he assumed that his medicine provider was on the ball, and thought that he was just looking for an aggressive way to get his body ready to go full out. Not everyone, not even smart people, understand all the hundreds of things that perhaps they should understand (our beloved Manti was the posterchild for naivete.) A lot of people trust that things will get "taken care of" for them. It's pretty easy to criticize someone who gets caught up in a problem --- it's so easy AFTER it has happened to see just what a "moron" the guy was. Well, I'd rather take the person's "body-of-work" into consideration before I climbed too far down his throat.
