I do think we've gotten a bit better on the telegraphing tendencies (or maybe it's just that Daniel Smith got hurt). But, yeah. Onwualu needs to catch some balls if for no other reason than to show our opponents he can.

Meanwhile Will Fuller should just keep doing his Will Fuller thing, suddenly appearing dozens of yards downfield with the ball landing in his hands.

Was deemed "too slow" and no one saw his hands. ND staff, unlike anyone else marveled at his hands. I think HH was instrumental in his recruitment. Maybe HH has a golden eye for talent at any position!

I don't remember the "slow" part, but agree his hands and ability to run and get the ball were under the radar. Not sure about the Catholic league, but assume that was a competitive / recruiting disadvantage.

I'm salivating to see Will and all of WRs this year. He will need to catch up on chemistry with EG but expect big things. Having Corey, Chis, Will, and DD as options is just plain sweet.

I expect CB to blossom this year if reports out of spring practice are true. Nothing more than I'd like than a steady rotation of these 4 creating separation in multiple areas of the field. I don't see a lot of drop off in talent across the 4 which is a luxury most teams don't have.

Throw in Amir and CJ, and EG should have any easy time reading down the options. Biggest question for me is who is going to step up as the go to TE, and can Amir catch the ball consistently. I personally think one of the young TEs will overtake Ben. Thinking Heuerman is the guy if he can block. I think CJ ultimately will win out over Amir.

FWIW. We didn't see it much from the spring practice videos we got to see but Fuller was apparently fighting the ball a fair amount during spring practice. Enough for the II guys to say it's an area of concern.

Do you see it being concern enough that Brent or Hunter steps up into the 4 spot. IMO DD/CR/CB were pretty much firm after spring ball. Didn't know there was that much concern about Will. Hunter is still a bit of a mystery to me but Brent has the potential to be a stud early if I had to bet.

What did the ball do to him? Hopefully he isn't dismissed or suspended. Obviously an area of concern whenever a player on the team is fighting...on multiple occasions especially. Hope he gets this straightened out before he gets Mahone'd.

FWIW I heard the ball needed several stitches.

Expecting some big production from Will. He showed some flashes of big play potential last year

At the 2 practices I saw, he was easily the 2nd best WR behind Chris Brown. It wasnt really close. His routes are phenomenal.

1000 yards this year is what NBC is stating. Seems far fetched considering the paper strong receiving corps ND has. Although untested, the strengths of this group seem to be: DD-strength and experience, CB-speed and experience, & CR-hands and leaping ability. Adding to that is Prosise, Amir, Smythe, and yes, Fuller. Too many hands and not enough passes.

Not a bad problem to have.

Brown has a much higher ceiling than fuller. Brown is taller has a higher vertical. And as of right now he has more experience. Fuller will be very good for us, but Brown is better right now.

I'd love to see a 3-WR formation platoon of DD, Breezy and CJ one drive with Koyack at TE, followed by another platoon of Baby Admiral, Fuller and Amir with Smythe/Heuerman at TE.

That's my dream of fresh legs and pass catchers being effective. Entire units of fresh legs in and out. Shred secondaries late in games.

Bryant on verge of big year for Notre Dame football - South Bend Tribune: Football

WR Will Fuller
Quick quiz: Which Irish player had the highest yards per-reception last season? OK, the answer is now slightly obvious, but Fuller's 26.7 per catch is a number that jumps out, even if the sample size (six receptions) is small.
Fuller came in a little under the radar, but he quickly won the trust of the coaches, as evidenced by his three starts and action in all 13 games.
If there's a knock on Fuller, it's his 6-foot, 171-pound frame, which makes physical corners a challenge, particularly at the line of scrimmage. A year in the weight room, not to mention a year learning under crafty TJ Jones, whose No. 7 Fuller will wear this season, will no doubt help.
Fuller isn't a big name, but his 4.4-secondish speed in the 40, and his ability to make difficult catches, should make him a candidate to become one of ND's top receiving targets in a balanced group begging for a breakout star.

Has anyone heard how his conditioning and weight have changed since last season. Would love to see him playing with a bit more "armor".

I'd really like to see Brown and Fuller have a good year. Deep threats help open up the run game big time.

Like the article said, Competition. It's going to be hard to breakout if he shares reps with Robinson and Brown.

Has there been any talk of him moving to Slot in the future?

I was under the impression that Fuller ' s straight-line speed was his biggest trait, and I don't think slot takes advantage of that outside of specific packages.

Besides, Tory Hunter Jr, CJ Sander, etc will make life tough there too.

During spring game, they said Fuller is the fastest player on the team. He's going to make some plays this year.
