Golson's had more than enough chances at this point. I root for him, and really like the guy, but it's definitely time to try something different.

Very excited for Malik, I do think his temperament is needed on the field. However, I am sure we will see a lot of Ev and I expect him to play his best football. Two quarterbacks might be what we need to do right now until one of them is ready to really handle the "above the shoulders part" of playing exceptional for 60 minutes

He was an EE and with summer classes I would think he is close to getting his degree.

LOVE the idea being able to truly run a read option attack. LOVE MZ getting the start. Don't love the EG hate (looking at you GoldenDomer - we fucking get it, EG pissed in your Cheerios). Hopefully Zaire gets a legit shot to showcase what he can offer up in '15, but remember - Zaire can come out for the 1st series, not play another down, and still "get the start".

Not like Golson ever did anything with the first series anyway, why not let Malik try to do better than 3 & out.

As big time underdogs, naming Malik starter early makes LSU game plan for him with 2 quarters of game tape to go on. Good move by Kelly, like you say Malik could only see a series or two and mission is accomplished.

I also think Golson plays better off the bench so hopefully whatever # of snaps he gets he comes to play. However, I would not be at all disappointed if Malik goes ape sh!t and refuses to give the keys back. Doubtful for a Sophomore but if it happens it means we have something special.

As much as I want to be excited. Limited game play, freshman, first start, SEC D, in a bowl game, after benching the starter for you.

SEC D is a function of SEC O and Division III cream puffs on the schedule. I will admit they are good, definitely not great IMO.

"Freshman" is actually a sophomore who enrolled early, he has been on campus for two whole years at this point which is plenty of time for a quality QB recruit to get seasoned enough to compete on a high level.

I'm with you about Everett. I just hope the game can slow down for him. I liked his fire after some missed bad passes and taking ownership. The way he celebrated after the kick was made also made me think that we don't have to worry about the silly transfer chatter.

I didn't realize I was so outspoken on the MZ - EG issue or that I had taken a lot of flack over it.
