Lol, its his first visit. Most recruits take 3-5 visits. This is his first and has ND on the calendar. The kid owes it to HIMSELF to see the schools he wants to see.

Al Golden is an up and coming coach and recruiter, doesn't shock me he is taking a visit, the guy is good.

Not worried at all. If he is dumb enough to go to Miami, then I don't want him anyway. But this kid is NOT dumb.

First of all, of the football factories, the University of Miami is one of the better schools.

Second of all you don't have to be "dumb" to pick a school over Notre Dame, just have a different set of priorities.

Third, there are kids who won't come to ND because of their dorm policies, off campus living policies, structure or discipline.

You better want him because the coaching staff has indicated he is a top priority. And since it turns out the coaching staff knows exactly what they want, and how to do what they need, that makes AQM a top priority.

Yeah, this is what I think is going on too. Still, doesn't change that fact that he took a semi-shady visit to Miami when we wanted him to come out for the banquet, and still hasn't finalized plans to visit ND. It could mean nothing, but it also kind of looks like we are not a top priority.

I hate how people accuse me of freaking out when I make posts like this. I am quite calm. But like I think GITF says, it's best to look at what they do, not what they say or what you hear, and I don't love that he went to Miami instead of ND this weekend. But I do think he'll still end up Irish; all those reports of strong interest or even silent commitment can't have been wrong, can they?

Why was it shady? Did he forget to check with you before he left?

How is him visiting shady?! Lol wow

Its a good thing hes visiting Miami in my opinion and i hope he gets to check out more schools. ND is always gonna sell itself. Miami, Rutgers, Bama arent going to match what he is looking for while ND can. I want nim and every kid to take multiple visits so they really can see the differences and what makes ND special

Kids need to take visits. This way when they commit to a school, they don't have that "what if" or "what would that school be like" after commiting and coming here and then transferring. Just a thought.

Let the kid go on his visits. ND may not be the right place for him. We all LOVE ND but there are good reasons to go to other schools; we (I) always seem to forget that ND is not the perfect fit for every kid.

That being said, he hasn't decided yet and it's not even signing day yet. Don't forget we have the best recruiters in the country and ND has a lot to offer. No reason to stress.

Is this not his first weekend available for visits?

Kid is announcing at Army All-American game which is January 5th.

That gives him 4 weekends to get visits done, one being Christmas which I would guarantee he doesn't ov on.

So three weekends with us getting one of them and being his presumed leader all year to where it was rumored he went silent verbal, a rumor that was never really debunked might I add.

Not concerned. Have fun in Miami young man.

Exactly. I'd honestly tend be more worried about him if he didn't visit anywhere else. These kids owe it to themselves to at least look around. That's the only way they really know what the options are. Also you don't want them having second thoughts down the road. A transfer is harder on everyone than a decommit (or in this case, a de-maybe-silent-commit).

For the record, I'll take back "semi-shady" if that seems to indicate that he did anything wrong; did not at all mean to imply that. All I was trying to say is that no one knew the visit was happening. He had a free weekend unexpectedly, and we hoped he would make a last minute visit to ND, and instead he took a last minute trip to Miami, and we didn't know till he was already there. But of course he isn't obligated to tell Sapp or anyone what his plans are. No wrongdoing there.

And also, for the record, he had NOT finalized plans to visit ND as of 2 days ago, according to Sapp. Hopefully he will end up coming out next weekend or another time before he announces, but the visit isn't setyet.

Miami fans were shocked as well but Golden has been recruiting him for awhile. Some think it was for a free trip but nobody really knows whats going on. I would much rather have the last visit than the first

Not sure if this has already been stated but he will also be visiting MSU.

The kid's season ended early and he's taking advantage of a great experience available to him.. an experience our head coach encourages.

Now, could he be blown away during one of these visits? Sure. But he's already in love with ND without having been here yet.

Just like a lot of our games.. We've got an early lead and I don't see anyone catching up.. Especially after he gets on campus.

Now, MSU is Michigan State or Mississippi State?

Looking forward to seeing this guy with Jones/Day on the D-line. Do what you have to do AQM, then join the Irish.

As long as he is in South Bend next weekend, all is good.

... or some other weekend. Still no visit date officially set, as far as we know. Sapp doesn't seem worried though. His point of view on this is that AQM told Elston just last week that he is planning to visit, and no reason to think anything has changed.

Also Sapp replied to a question by a poster about why if we should be reading into why AQM didn't come last weekend and his statement made it seem that the staff was ok with Bryant being the only uncommited player there so they could focus attention on him. Interesting way to think of it.

Makes sense in a way. We only have studs left on the board. These guys usually need more attention, especially the ones that drag the process all the way. Anything that can help get these guys in the fold.

You beat me to the punch, but are 100% correct. He has us scheduled and it doesn't hurt to visit other schools when you're solid. Hell I'll take a free weekend down in Miami at this time of the year.

That is something I have noticed more this year vs last year. The staff was setting up smaller groups of uncommitted kids to visit with larger groups of already committed kids all season. It seems to be working although winning has had to help tremendously with the process. I think the more personal approach will be the difference in being a top 3 class vs an 8-10 class. The coaches have adapted rather well IMO!
