I am going to make a information-less assumption that our young superstar has a date which is in some way significant to him, and that he wants to celebrate his commitment in a special way. That, to me, is just wonderful, and I say that we honor Jaylon's plans without objection.

YOU are who we need, young man, and the fire that you'll bring to an already ferocious defense is going to burn up the college landscape once you're on the field. Manti, sitting off somewhere in NFL-Heaven, is going to be smiling.

Well said.

TJ on II feels very, very good after his visit. Said he feels as good as possible. He also would be suprised if he goes to much longer without a announcement. He also thinks the linebacker dominos will start falling in Early June.

TJ has just as much info as any of the sites. II really should pay him.

I have a couple guesses but i wont start rumors. If we thinks line backers are going to start falling there are 3 that pop in my head right away and ill be very very happy if he's right.

Guys that I think we lead for anyways: Ball, Randolph, Mattingly
Guys that I think will give us a better look: Cox, Drennon, Ogundeko

Don't think Anzalone is impacted because I think he knows Smith is all ND (hopefully already impacted and he will get over UF)

U think we take 4 OLBs with 2 ILBs?

Hoping for Randolph/Ogundeko and Smith/Mattingly and Cox/Anzalone

That would be the sickest thing ever and it's very possible right now

ND wont take 6 LBs with needs at other positions that are more pressing. As most of you know the 2013 kids are very impressive as far as connecting with kids and they are def recruiting for themselves unlike in 2012. I stated last week June will be a good month for ND. ND can really focus on their core group of elite guys right now over the next few months. As long as they win they will be more than ok come Feb.

That sounds good to me, then have the staff turn their attention to backend of the defense with some solid and lock down CB's.

We didnt have half the class filled in may. And you can tell a little difference in the kids personalities/morals from last yr to this yr.

Unfortunately this is very similar to what we were saying at this time a year ago

This year and last year are completly different. This years class are more of the RKG. We will see this later on in the year. I was worried all last year about 3 kids decommiting. This year i cant see any one of these kids leaving.

Sorry TurningPoint beat me to the punch.

I agree with this. Assuming we bring back 5 5Ys for 2013, our incoming class will be capped at 20. We currently have 12 recruits, which leaves 8 more scholarships to shore up several positions of serious need.

Here's my best guess at our remaining needs: 1 RB; 2 DEs; 1 DT; 2 ILBs; 2 OLBs; and 1 P. Taking 6 LBs would deprive the DL of critical depth.

Of the above listed needs, the front seven obviously takes priority. We could theoretically pass on RB and/or P this year pretty safely. I'm guessing we'll leave a scholarship open for a big-fish skill player-- RB or CB.

Have we offered a Punter this year? Unless the staff thinks Brindza is the answer there, losing Turk might sting in 2013.

Good article on 247 with quotes from his dad. Says he will visit Ohio State once more, likely by the end of this month, but let's all hope that doesn't happen. If Ohio State had any other coach but Urban Meyer... I'd say this is a sure thing.... but Urban has a gift when it comes to closing. One of the most gifted recruiters/salesmen in the history of recruiting. Stay strong, Jaylon.

I thought part of Brindza's appeal is that he is as capable a punter as he is a kicker. If he is can be a serviceable D-1 punter, I wouldn't mind seeing a scholarship that would otherwise go to a punter be used instead to take a "best available" type of player, whether that is another front-seven player, another DB, or an offensive skill player.

Relax it is probably like the Heuerman situation. He is just going to double check and make sure ND is for him and when he leaves O$U he will know he is all Irish.

Conventional wisdom is that you want 1 P, 1 K, 1 LS, and 1 P/K. Assuming Brindza is our P/K and that Tausch gets a 5Y, we'd still ideally take a P in this class and a K in 2014.
