Unless Tarean has an injury it will be his best season as of yet. The 1,200 yards might be realistic depending on how much The QB runs the ball. I still think that Tarean needs to touch the ball 20+ times again. The young man is a smart play maker. Yes he doesn't have the beat you to the end zone speed but he does have the juke you out of your shoes move, great down field vision, and is athletic enough to make cuts with out losing his balance to gain extra yards. And lets not forget he won't shy away from contact.

having a QB who is a viable run threat between the tackles will help TF so much when it comes to getting to the edge

This is an awfully good (and quite cordial) discussion!

My two cents :

1) Since at least 2011 the ND quarterbacks have not been playing for success in the run game;
  • No one before Malik could run an outside option game for shiit.
  • See above comment about inside option ability, quarterbacks have played too shallow since Clausen.
  • Every year the "QB Coach" had to come back to basic fundamentals like squaring off shoulders parallel to the line of scrimmage, and basic footwork on three and five step drop backs. Not good! There were quarterbacks starting at ND that couldn't take a reliable snap under center when it counted. Really not good!
  • Remember EG's early entry spring game? It was a mudfest in which EG showed remarkable athletic ability, unfortunately no one could figure out what he was going to do next, including his teammates and coaches.
  • I think this year's offense is going to accentuate the above point by contrast, as well as all the conversations about having an underpowered quarterback, or one without a gamer attitude.
  • As far as Folston, don't look now, his body composition is really changing; just like the best example on the squad, KeiVarae Russell even two years ago versus now? No comparison!

2) Defense?
  • BVG has never brought a defense in to any college program with the success he had over his first seven games at ND, including his time at UGA where he won the Broyles Award twice.
  • The youngest ND defense in years, if not "for-ev-er" was also the most injury and suspension plagued squad of the modern era; throw out last year as anything to hang your hat on, a sub-performing defense cost games.
  • No one really understood the defense except Joe. Jaylon didn't really; we all delighted at the incredible athletic ability he showed making up for it. The safeties didn't until LSU. That was the real problem with the safety play last year. This year can you say Todd Lyght? Don't underestimate the difference his coaching makes.

I want to buy in but the safety breakdowns against LSU directly led to at least 21 points if I remember correctly. As far as Malik, show me don't tell me. I believe in him and this team until the first snap against Texas, then I'm simply waiting to see.

Not sure if it holds any water but multiple sites had stuff pop up about potential news on him, but the threads were nuked. Does anyone know anything?

Yeah I totally heard the thing about the guy who did the one thing. I'm not sure though. They were a little vague and seemed to have GIVEN US ALL A HEART ATTACK FOR NO GOOD DAMN REASON.

This stuff always happens before bad news. There may be a legit reason to worry, and that's why I'm asking.

comment from someone on the boards

"Hey Lou Somogyi-Quick question for you. I have heard some very bad news recently regarding Tarean Folston, specifically, that he may have some academic elgibility concerns for the upcoming season? Anyway you could do some digging or see if there is anything to that rumor? Don't want to start a big deal but obviously didnt lie hearing this."

Next time same as much in the OP. As is, it's like you're begging people to beg you to explain. Don't be a drams mama.

Was not my intention, I apologize. As you can see above there is some legitimacy to my post.

Hoping this is just some message board telephone that started due to him being held out of a lot of practice reps.

Lol, I can't help if people get upset over something trivial. But I personally don't have the time for drama.

Some would think that's ALL you have time for.

As for a this rumor. Why wouldn't BK have got it out there at today's PC if its leaked. Also, strange timing for academic. Wouldn't it have coincided w Bryant learning his fate?

I hate to see this thread bump. The only thing that concerns me here is that when the people that are close to the program and "in the know" do not respond to rumors, it's usually true.
