On a serious note: Our DL depth.

I think is I Rochell can develope in to a very high level DE. That being said we need more DL depth at DE which EV was suposedly brought in to play but also at NG.

The lack of NG depth after Nix is very concerning to me. To me even if we beef up Springman his 6-6 height doesn't suit well for the position. Personally I like a NGs that is bit on the shorter side which helps with leverage and staying low to the ground.

I just think there should be some form of recourse towards UCLA. Clearly they recruited the crap out of the kid after LOI. If nothing else, at least some media attention about lack of character in their case. Im just so tired of reading every single time anything negatively happens at ND yet you never read about other schools. Im sure ND isnt the only school in America that has its players get caught drinking or cheating.

As for this punk, I sure hope UCLA flops and he flops right with them. I dont know if I can ever put UCLA above USC on the distain chart but this is really pushing it. I felt sorry for them for years for having to run around with that homosexual baby blue uniform but at this point, I cannot in all honestly continue to cut them any slack.

Does anyone think there is going to be an NCAA investigation into UCLA? Sure the way these investigations work we'll finally know something 4 years from now and if there is any sanctions they won't be handed down until like 6 years from now, still I would feel better if I knew UCLA was going to be investigated for tampering.

I think the NCAA will take a quick look at it and probably slap Mora on the wrist in private.

At work and can't read. What happened?
EV is going to UCLA per him/his family

ND is not letting him out of his LOI at this time so he will have to sit a year.

Bad PR moves by parents/Joe Davidson/UCLA.

So say he decided now to leave UCLA to come back to ND or more likely just go somewhere else does it mean he would have to sit out another year since he now signed a second letter of intent?

Yes I do realize this is a pointless question.

The way this has played out, I wouldn't be surprised if it happened! lol

What kind of work do you do that doesn't require reading? Can we get you to the nearest adult education facility? I hear hooked on phonics can help immeasurably!

I know this will never happen, but i really wish that Notre Dame would come out with a statement and air all of the dirty laundry. I have a feeling it would go something like this.

The University of Notre Dame holds all of its students to highest standards in regard to academic and athletic commitments. As a result it is our policy not to release any student athlete from their national letter of intent, unless extenuating circumstances are presented. In the case of Eddie Vanderdoes, we do not feel that any circumstance has arisen since the signing of his NLOI, that would constitute grounds for voiding such a contract.

In our estimation the point of contention is centered around Eddie Vanderdoes's desire to gain his sibling an athletic scholarship. Something that Notre Dame would be happy to offer to any student athlete that earns it in the classroom and on the field. However it has come to light that University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), that had previously offered Eddie's sibling an athletic scholarship, was now calling into question the availability of the aforementioned scholarship, due in part to Mr. Vanderdoes signing his NLOI to The University of Notre Dame. We believe that this is the reason for Eddies sudden desire to attend UCLA.

In addition recent comments made by Eddie, the Vanderdoes family, and closely affiliated media members have made it appear that The University of Notre Dame was in some way concerned about the possibility of Eddie attempting to join the University of Southern California's (USC) football program. This is in the strictest sense of the word false. At no point where we worried about Eddie joining any other program, considering he signed a legally binding contract with our university.

We will not be releasing Eddie Vanderdoes from his NLOI, and have no further comment at this point.

He's talented, but he's just a prospect who knows what could happen. He easily can bust, or can be a great player. While it sucks we lost him, ND still does have Rochell, Matsuaka, and the kid from Arkansas. He's a big name, but we'll be fine with him or without him

I'm high on Rochell, but come on man- are you really going to tell me that Matuska and "the kid from Arkansas" are going to fill the void that EV just shoved up our collective @$$?

For the first time in school history, Notre Dame opened the season with five losses, and their nine-loss season in 2007 was also a school record, but on October 6 at 8:00 pm in the Rose Bowl at Pasadena, CA on ABC the Irish won 20–6 over the #25 UCLA Bruins.
This ended one of the worst slumps in Fighting Irish football, and prevented the Irish from equaling their longest losing streak in their history.

Haha. That was probably the happiest I had ever been watching a football game to that point in my life. My a-hole neighbors at the time gave me a hard time for cheering too loudly. I didn't care at all.

Shaq Evans (irony!) and Joseph Fauria (double irony!) had pretty good years last year I believe.

But I don't know their stats to say with certainty.

Davidson pointed to the signing day snafu as a big part of this. Do we think that's true? If so... that's pretty lame. Like all kinds of lame.

I don't recall exactly what he got booted for (he was kicked out for a student code violation I believe) but instead of serving a semester off he chose to transfer.

Greg Olsen was almost the exact same situation and he did well at Miami. Nevermind the 7th Floor Crew...
