In a way I'm glad we had the position of choosing between Day and Schutt. Say the two were rated dead even on the coaches board, both are going to commit, but you can only take one. Who do you pick? Coaching staff may have felt Day's commitment was more solid than Tommy's.
So am I correct that Schutt passed on OSU because of future sanctions, then lost out in the numbers game at ND AND UM, then verballed PSU, but rethought the process after Paterno's termination and Urbie's hiring, and now has landed at homestate U?

Mike Frank said something a couple of weeks ago that he had heard that the ND coaches thought Schutt's body needed a lot of work and that Sheldon Day was much better suited for what ND does defensively.
This is not to say that Schutt won't be good, but just what Mike had heard was the reasoning for taking Sheldon over him...
