Hahaha well.. first of all... why would the SEC ever clear that waiver? They put in a rule specifically to prevent a transfer like this. Got to love random SEC callers....

Second, no Auburn people have any information at all post-Tosh leaving and post-Armond's visit to ND.

I think Auburn is a real threat, but like I've said many times, we led by a ton over them for Arik before the visit. I don't know if that's changed. And I imagine if they get the thumbs up from the ND administration that they're coming here.

But let's all refrain from cockyness... there are still a lot of dominoes that haven't fallen.

That's what I was thinking. They also said something about them actually having the petition so who knows. I just wish it would get over with.

Thanks Lax. I know it is hard to not feel really good right now after the crazy Kiel saga, and what APPARENTLY looks like a lead for the Armstead's, but we felt really good a week and a half ago too. Personally, just happy to be in the position we are in.

FWIW,

ChiTribHamilton Brian Hamilton
Nose guard and future MBA Sean Cwynar tells the Tribune he won't return to #NotreDame in 2012. Story: trib.in/AybZGB

Perhaps this is has to do with Armsteads.

Here's the story. It genuinely sounds like Cwynar wasn't interested in a 5Y; partly because he knows he doesn't have much of a shot at the NFL, but mostly because there's nothing left for him to accomplish at ND academically.

Sad to see him go. His absence at NT will likely be felt next year, but more importantly, he was an outstanding student athlete. His academic accomplishments are staggering.

In any case, I don't think Cwynar's departure means anything for the Armsteads. At least this obviates the possibility of locker room dissension over spurning a 5Y DL in favor of Armond.

I'm not sure, but I believe Kelly used his in-home with Armstead on the west coast swing after the Stanford game. Even if so, that doesn't mean that Diaco, Alford, Elston, etc. couldn't fly out there for one last in-home.

Can he go visit the elder brother and Arik just happen to be their?

I asked that over 100 posts ago....

Regarding the Kelly visit.... I am guessing that he already has had an in home visit with Arik - but I highly doubt he had one with Armond... What stops him from going to the house to see Armond and Arik is there???

According to Bryan Mathews, Auburn guy...

Think ND is team to beat, but doesn't know why they haven't pulled the trigger for ND yet.

SEC rule blocking Armond is in effect, however, they're working to see if he can be an exception due to his medical year(s) he sat out.

Met with the three during their Auburn visit and "they seemed to be enjoying themselves".

Nothing really.

that's a bogus excuse.. the rule, as I understand it, is based on how many years of eligibility you have left, not how many you should have left.. it'll be interesting to see if the SEC allows this transfer to go through and ruin the sliver of credibility that conference has left

The SEC passed the rule voluntarily. It wasn't foisted upon them by the NCAA. Aside from Auburn's desire to get the Armstead brothers, the conference has no incentive to grant this waiver.

well if granting the waiver allows for a better chance for a highly touted recruit to come to their conference, that wouldn't necessarily be bad for the conference.. i think that's a decent enough incentive.. but that's just my opinion

I just talked to some of my guys in the recruiting business.I think you guys will land him about 70%.

Hope this is true, but I am not counting anything til the school release. This Month is crazy.....Can't wait for NSD!!! It will be a lot less stressful.

I really don't want to feed the troll, but our old friend Matt in Ohio cracks me up. He's one of the most inept trolls I've ever seen. Does he really think posting pictures of bin Laden and Woody Hayes is going to upset Irish fans?

He is trolling and I'm not sure why, but pretty much all the stuff he was claiming a while ago ended up true.

Does anyone know of any Auburn 247 reporter I could follow on twitter? I have a subscription now but never been to their site and I'm kind of swimming... Can't find how to get the instant updates about Arik, specifically. PM me or post it here. Thanks.
