Haha no doubt. He is great at what he does though. Type of player you love to have on your team, but if your playing against him he is the scum of the earth.

Still would like him and Crosby to duel in the octogan and winner gets the baddest son a bitch out there, but ummm. Yeah yay Aaron???

Choosing a school with great academics could help him get a nice job after football.

Thus it isn't a four year decision, it's a forty year one.

Even more so than that it's about where you will be in 40 years. Being part of the Notre Dame family has an indescribable effect on your life whether you end up in the NFL or somewhere else. The loyalty of ND alums to each other (and former players) is really unparalleled. It's why Brady Quinn got huge endorsement deals before ever taking a snap and why Justin Tuck gets paid millions of dollars by Subway to do commercials. And post football, like Riddickulous says, rather than fade away you become a legend with all kinds of perks/deals/motivational speaking opportunities/whatever floats your boat. And if you didn't have an NFL career for some reason you have a great job in 5 minutes because of the power of the alumni base.

Half of this is because ND is small school with strong academics versus a large one with weaker academics, the other half is because the ND family is just special. There are few schools besides the ivies that compare to ND when it comes to the loyalty, power, and far reaching influence of the alumni. Either way, when you look at it as a lifelong decision versus a 4 year decision ND wins every time.

thats what the 40 year decision means?

It also means more than just a "good job". Its about growing as a person so if the NFL doesn't work out then you're going to go a university that prides itself in making sure their student athletes graduate with their degree and if they do make it to the NFL then they're much more informed and wiser when they get their big payday.

I'm not saying that Aaron can't or wouldn't find that at FSU because they've had a couple of Rhodes Scholars graduate there. At the same time they have a problem with what many fans consider is a good job of making sure their student athletes graduate with their degree. I hope Aaron chooses ND and would love to see him suit up in our blue and gold but he has to do what's best for him and his family. If he ends up at FSU then I sincerely hope he gets the very best education that he can because far too many times we hear stories about this kid or that kid who didn't make it in pro sports and didn't get his college education because he was thinking about the pros and not his education.

FSU fans can pound sand for all I care. This is the same school that had to suspend 25 players 2 years ago for cheating in an ONLINE MUSIC CLASS

So, what'd I miss? Just kidding! I do have a question:

If we end up with Tuitt and Lynch, and since Kelly recruits talent not necessarly position, don't you then start looking and using some 4-3 type packages too? I know there would be some other personnel issues but seems like you could really make game planning tough for other teams if they have to face a 3-4 and 4-3 from one play to the next.

At 730 AM Eastern time

Blue-Gold reported that they had spoken with AAron and he told them
he had de-committed----that's all.

A reporter from Fox talked to his mother and she said she had told him to "Follow your heart".

His heart------well he said yesterday that he loved Alford like a father.
Father Alford was with him last night. If he holds off to the weekend he will bring his toothbrush and stay at ND for a few months.

They did do some more 4-3 near the end of the season. And they did it in the miami game. You can be a 3-4 with good amount of 4-3 packages. You will need the 4-3 against Army,Navy,Air force.

his decommitment has to be a good sign for us? everyone is assuming it is just down to ND and FSU....is it possible any other teams will jump in the mix?

FSU boards and boosters are throwing a fit! Something like the meltdown that we had here.

Oh they are way worse. They claimed that Aaron wouldn't get accepted to FSU (which is insane considering a guy like Antonio Cromartie got accepted), and even accused Alice of having a long criminal record.

this

and don't forget they claim he hasn't and won't get accepted to ND, that he'll end up at a Juco and have to go to FSU as a walk on in a couple years.

Can I get an update so I dont have to search through 90 pages of comments....Did he de-commit from FSU? Whats the latest?

Thanks

Rivals and Scout list him as uncommitted, Blue and Gold article has a quote from him saying he de-committed. The FSU boards are going nuts, still claiming that ND lied to Aaron about FSU's intentions with other DEs and that we have promised him playing time, and that his mother made the decision for him because Aaron wants to go to FSU. They have also posted some pretty vicious stuff about Alice.

Sounds like he is going to be in South Bend this week, right after a huge snow storm.

If Aaron ever see's the post about Alice, I think FSU will have no shot at Aaron. That was completely uncalled for.

I was pretty disgusted with some of the things said/done on this board when he decommitted from us. But wow the things they have been saying and posting about him/Moma are way above and semi-intellegent persons thinking. Thats just wrong is so many ways.

Cuz i'm a looser and reading thru their boards again. One poster said graduating from ND doesn't open any doors for your future. Said we don't compare to the "public ivy" schools such as Stanford, Duke, or Michigan. MICHIGAN really? Thats a joke.

"All This Talk About Notre Dame Being So Much Better Than FSU is such BS. Unless you go to an Ivy or a “public Ivy” like Stanford or Duke or maybe Michigan, where you went to undergrad barely registers with employers. Being a Notre Dame grad doesn’t open up major doors in and of itself."
