I'm hoping enough time has passed that this thread can be safely re-opened.

USF's coach Willie Taggart is very excited about the maturation of Aaron Lynch:

OMG hilarious ... we heard he was light and assumed the coaches were trying to keep him light and quick ... turns out he just did a ****-poor job staying in shape while he was ineligible. Inexcusable. I've heard of people losing their scholarships for that (though no one as talented as Lynch lol)

Lol. He had a whole year off to train and didn't do shits because he wasn't motivated. Kid sure is a hard worker...

I thought I had mono once for an entire year. Turns out I was just bored.

He's not going to make it with that type of attitude. You'd think he'd train hard so he could have a huge impact this year then jump to the NFL.

I'll think he'll make the NFL on talent alone but he's not going to live up to his potential if he keeps this up. Can't say this is surprising though.

I thought this would pretty much be his path. But he'll have to put on at least 20lbs before the combine. Also need to really stand out this season which I wouldn't have thought would be a problem. I blame getting married personally :)

What do you think is worse losing weight or getting fat? It probably takes longer to pack on lbs of muscle, where a good couple weeks of camp and eating salads could probably drop 15lbs off the average lineman.

OH MY GOD

for me with regards to ND, the Lynch ship has sailed....its interesting to see updates regarding his status, but by no means do I think about 'what could have been'. I like the direction of the team has gone since he left...As a previous poster mentioned, Lynch's absence created a vaccuum that was filled by the emergence of other Dlineman to step up and make an impact. Inadvertantly, Lynch's exit from ND was an addition by subtraction. It's a strange dynamic, because he was a great player that one year he was here.

I guess thats an indication of a program in place, and working as intended.....next man(or men) in

.... my guess is that Aaron Lynch will grow up fast now that his trauma period is over. My experience, both as student and professor, was that young men tended to turn their corners from irresponsible children to glimmerings of adult manhood between their sophomore and junior years. Lynch received some heavy body blows to his irresponsible dreams just at that time. He went into a retreat funk and buried his head in the sands of self pity. Now that's over. With his dream back on track, and, hopefully with Alice giving him good adult supervision/wisdom, he should get on the path to full adulthood again.

Two other things: a]. he'll end up playing at 270 by the time he gets his head and body caught up; and b]. he would have been a very good Notre Dame player, but we didn't need him last year, and we will not need him this year. Sheldon Day will outplay Aaron Lynch in 2013. Who knows who we line up in Tuitt's spot in 2014, maybe even Tuitt. But a guy named Vanderdoes comes to mind.

Good fortune Aaron, for you AND that wife you now need to pay serious responsible attention to.

Wonder what question will come up 32 times at the combine?

"What did you do that year you were ineligible?"

God I wish he had his head on straight on stayed at ND. Would have been Top 5 next year if he had.

Broad Prediction: Average year at USF. Declares early and gets drafted 3rd-5th round.

Whatever his weight, sounds like the kid maybe finally has his head on straight. Good for him. I hope he makes it. Too bad it couldn't have been at Notre Dame, but such is life.

I guess you read something different than I did. What I read was that he moped around for a year and didn't keep up with his training.

he may as well play at 245 and take an outside rush to the QB 90% of the time, he will probably rack up a bunch of sacks against crappy teams and shirk his run game responsibilities like usual.

NFL scouts predicting him to be a top 10 pick next year are trippin'

Btw did bogs quit again? Why is he a guest?

No, that was an "Old Bogs" post. Look at the date, remember, this thread was closed for about a year. And I didn't quit. I protested what I considered an unfair situation. Things have changed considerably. So we can leave it lay, but I trust things will never return to that level with all the Mods like Whiskey, Beau, Clash, Junkhead(LOL), IronMan, and etc., You guys have the best run board, now I have ever seen; your cleanup on threads is spectacular. It is fair, and it is very kind. And you drive a spike right up the a$$es of trolls before they get going. It is a thing of beauty.

Back to Lynch. His coach gushed on and on. WOW! Aren't you excited? Aaron is wearing big boy pants. (That is basically what this guy was saying.) His praise was too effuse; "Me doth think he protesteth too much!" And, he was praising him for something less than every member of the '13 class has shown in high school. Have you seen what the incoming class is doing with Paul Longo's program? Have you seen the efforts and the results? What did Lynch do in his year off? Work at UPS? Catch up on his schooling? Or did he sit on his a$$? Since nobody mentioned all he accomplished or how well he took care of his new wife, I will give you an educated guess. And he got a hair cut; I bet Al Lesar will write an article immediately . . .

Bingo, then out of the NFL in 3 years. Sad, It always about will & skill. He lacks one, and it's not skill.

Living proof that Notre Dame makes you MORE of a man.

Or as Casper would say, living proof that ND attracts (and keeps) men that are more! Reminds me of "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre." Everybody is attracted to the shiny prize; it is all about what you are going to do to get and keep it.
