no, just being honest
2005 was a big game for ND fans but not many others
the only interest was that USC team was being billed as the greatest ever
none of it was about Notre Dame
amuses me some here puff up things 21 years later
2005 game was the game of the year in college football... hell a new rule came out of it.

I think you may be a miami fan upset that we may think another game may have been as hyped or more as this one coming up.

I’ve never lived within 50 miles of south bend and yeah, it was a massive game nation wide…
It was so massive it is the game that made me a ND fan. I was immediately hooked after that game even though we lost.

I was already 15 plus years deep in heart ache,… that era was nightmare fuel for a ND hardcore living in so cal. I watched it with my Latina fiancé at the time,… her family were all SCum fans… thank goodness that didn’t work and I married someone else lol

The game had the most college football viewers for a regular season in game in 9 years, that includes all TV stations not just NBC.
ND issues the most media credentials it had every issued up to that point in its history.
It was the most requested ticket in the history of Notre Dame's alumni ticket lottery.
The Pep Rally on Friday was broadcast on ESPNNEWS.
Now go fuck yourself.

People were rocking the SC busses when they pulled in. Someone must have a video of that.

I remember seeing that. Didn't get a video, but I did get a picture of the Gameday set. Someone had a sign with Matt Leinart in a tutu, a jab at the ballroom dancing class he was taking his last year as a "student athlete."

At the time I didn’t even follow Notre Dame, barely followed college football, and lived in Colorado and I still heard and knew about that game.

History doesn’t appeal to back to back wins versus an elite opponent. Oftentimes whoever wins the first round finds themselves on the losing end in the rematch.

I am from Connecticut (where college football is not big) and I was not an ND or college football fan until I went to ND for school. The only CFB games I remember watching before coming to ND were the 2005 ND/USC game and then the USC/Texas championship game.

Wha??

More anticipated than the two national championship games we played in since 93?
Or the home playoff game vs IU?
Or the Sugar Bowl vs Georgia?
Or the Orange Bowl vs Penn St?
What about the covid game vs Clemson?
Should have specified...home game.
Miami just brings it to a different level for me.

I think part of what makes this game more anticipated is that we spent all offseason stewing in immense rage and frustration after the loss and the playoff snub.

3 of those 4 weren't really set in stone until a few weeks prior at most. The Clemson COVID game lost a bit of luster due to COVID and Lawrence being out.

This one has been marked on so many ND fan's calender since last season ended.

Yeah, agreed. I'm not sure this game can reach the hype nationally of the 2005 USC game (to be fair, that is a very high bar), but within the fanbase this is maybe the most anticipated home game since then.

We're wetting our pants about a BYU team that hasn't beaten a team that finished in the Top 10 since 2009. I can't imagine what this thread will look like come Miami week.
I feel like the vibes have actually been pretty positive in the BYU thread. Maybe one or two bed wetters.

She’s a chipino,… Chicano Filipino,… but she looks totally light skinned Mexican. When I went after her I thought she was the next Latina in line. lol… she was my college advisor btw,… acamp pulled miracles back in the day

A lot of people I talk usually have the attitude “we should beat BYU” and “we can beat Miami”… almost get the feeling some fans think we are the underdog.

Clemson did a really good job defending him last week. Basically took away his underneath stuff and put someone over the top to avoid the deep threat. 5 catches, 40 yards.
He had a huge TD called back because of an illegal motion that would’ve put him over 100 yards. wasn’t necessarily a bad game.
