  • Thanks for the reps. Never want my sarcasm to get translated to slighting someone personally...that's not my deal. Nor do I want someone's citation to get lost in a "sword" fight. I screen 3 or 4 "studies" a day based on the executive summary...and indeed I make snap judgments regarding someone's purpose and the study's validity in those pages...I need to not be like that on here...I'm learning :)

Hope I don't come off too dickish when we disagree...I appreciate your input...
    No ****. Very angry fellow.

It's all good, my man. This right wing wacko likes your bleeding heart ***. LOL
    It was money, brother!!!!

Awesome to see the Irish live. And the Irish fans were out in droves. Met some cool folks

I agree. It seems any way they can pick apart an opposing argument just to say their opinion is the only one. Then I got defensive on Bogs when he wasn't even talking about me. I just seem to get defensive every time I read the thread because I don't share the same opinion as they do, and when it's expressed they instantly attack.
Sorry for the red-bomb, but those sorts of "jokes" should never be burdened upon those who are the ones always taking the sh!t, and really don't need the obstacles increased. Everybody has feelings. West Virginia has little to be proud of, but thirty years or more ago hired a Carnegie Tech president to begin upgrading the whole set of curricula so that maybe someday someone would stop mocking "us" and admit that we are trying too. Smack jokes are best used upon the strong, not ground into the weak.

Again, I'm sorry, but I'll do this too anyone on IE who insists on picking on one of the few things that an embattled state sees as a light to look up to. [and I have already, and taken flak myself for that].

shockingly no responses to that. Thanks for playing....smh
I get that others may feel different about his level of responsibility, but I don't get that they feel the need to force their opinions on others, and at times seem like they are requiring an explanation of why anyone feels different, just to attempt to dismantle that explanation too. A person unfortunately lost their life after being involved in a confrontation with someone who, as far as I'm concerned, creepily followed them and then ignored a reasonable suggestion to stay removed from the situation until authorities could handle it. If someone approached me at night while I was walking after I knew they were following me in their vehicle, I would confront them too. TM's reaction to me was far more reasonable than several of GZ's actions that lead up to that point.
I think I learned a few things in terms of framing this in a light that is more aware of some things Martin might have been thinking. It doesn't change my view of the Jury's ruling...but it does make me think about confrontations like this...there are some teachable moments in here for sure so long as we can teach w/o reinforcing some of the attitudes I fear lead to this encounter being deadly.
no problem...also enjoyed the discussion, and I feel more at ease to offer some theories and conjecture now that its over...although its still hard to have an academic-like discussion over a kid's grave.

"thanks for the reps Bogtrotter" You are welcome, just stop calling me Bogtrotter. Bogs is better, Grehar is fine. LOL.
Thanks for the rep man, no hard feelings at all. It is a sensitive subject for sure, things are just weird down here now. I pray no riots either man.

Your responses are always well measured. I look forward to reading more of them. Keep it up.
I think it takes a certain confidence in oneself to temper your language so as not to offend. In the same way it takes a certain strength to turn the other cheek. Not saying I always live up to it, but still it is an ideal. I wonder if the anti p.c. crowd sees that as a noble act or just a sign of a coward.
