If he left Ohio State because of a sex offender hanging around the team....he can't pick Penn State now, AMIRITE?

Alex Anzalone: "I decommitted from (#OSU)...right now I'm digesting everything." #ND #Stanford #USC #Florida #PennSt

OSU is completely out. Nice.

Music to my ears!

I know it gets repetitive, and I apologize to those who tire of seeing it. I keep posting it partly because so many friends and family members of recruits stumble on these profiles. Never know when it might make a difference.

More importantly, my Lebowski gif > Football ROI.

Valid point.

One would certainly think so lol

I'm trying to understand this situation more clearly. The only way this could be anything unethical, as in, punishable by the NCAA, is if he was a booster, correct? Other than the fact that it's enormously disgusting, it can't get the program in trouble right? I'm thinking OSU sent that correspondence to prevent a PR disaster, i.e., having a large portion of the football team, and prospective members of the football team, associating with a sex offender.

My question at the bottom of all of this is that if it did play a role in Anzalone's decommitment, why? Sure, he might not want to play for a program that has a fan like this actively corresponding with recruits and players, but it doesn't add up that it would override all the reasons he chose OSU in the first place. Perhaps there is more to the story.

Virtually every fan of a program is considered a "booster" of that program. I'm certain Waugh would qualify as such under NCAA regs. Thus, any tweet he sent which was pro-OSU is considered a secondary violation. So even something as innocuous as "Go Bucks!" is a violation.

OSU started warning people off him because it would have been in Lack of Institutional Control territory if the Athletic Department chose to do nothing after learning about Waugh's contact with recruits. I'm sure PR and genuine concern over the welfare of its recruits also played a factor. If Waugh persists in his creepiness, official disassociation from the program is the most that OSU can do.

My question at the bottom of all of this is that if it did play a role in Anzalone's decommitment, why? I'm sure there's more to the story. Would be very strange for Anzalone to decommit based on the Waugh incident alone, assuming most of the significant facts are known at this point.

I agree, there must be more to the story. Every major program will have weirdo fans. I don't see why one weirdo fan would affect your commitment to a school. Unless it's not so much a rational thing as an emotional/visceral thing, i.e., he is just freaked out over it.

Right, and the insider guy "Alex" at eleven warriors just said that it's 100% about this situation but that he couldn't say more.

"Can't go into too many details but this is 100% about the BdubsCreeper"

(1) Grubl misspelled "tobacco" in the title of his speech; and (2) in typical "participation ribbon" form, each "place" is given to 5 individuals. So he really placed somewhere in the 11th-15th range.

Dude...that's reckless Ain't no swag like a Grubl swag. Pixie sticks!

The Alex dude is largely clueless though for someone who is a regular contributor to a site like that.

I figured as such, he blew the Heuerman prediction and then acted like he was completely shocked it happened. So I take it with a grain of salt, of course.

Some choice quotes from the article above.

"Something's just not right at Ohio State," Sal Anzalone said. "It's not for him."

"You don't want your son to go to a place where there's a potential issue (like this)," Sal Anzalone said. "You expect the (football) staff to have some sort of control on how things are handled with recruits when they visit. This is ridiculous.

"I was concerned with what recruits do, and with them being allowed to visit these kind of places where it puts kids at risk. That's the issue. You entrust people (at the school) to do the right thing."

Just crazy. After reading what his dad says, it makes sense to decommit over it.

And thanks Whiskey for the explanation a little earlier. I thought that a booster was only someone who donated directly to the school or program, not just supported it.

Dang... if he wants to stay closer to home and not be around child molesters, one would think that we are in the driver's seat, no?

What is the success rate of Oonie's predictions. In my experience he seems to be wrong more times than he's right.
