He is a stud that is the reason he is the main back we are looking for. That s why we told Ezekial Elliot that he would not be a running back.

I think that with the depth we have at RB, it's a position we can choose to be picky with.

Still, always want to grab 1 or 2, even with that depth.

Green looks like a stud too. I would hate for a kid with his makeup and talent to head to Free Shoes University.

Ryan Green Interview: Top RB Recruit Focused On 3 Schools - SBNation.com

"Notre Dame has great academics, and even if you don't get to that next level, you can always rely on that Notre Dame degree. With Florida State, I've always been a fan. And I like Florida," Green said.

And according to Green, there is a fourth school on the outside looking in. "I also like Tennessee," Green said.

Are there any schools from which Green doesn't yet have an offer that he would still like to hear from? "Oklahoma and Oregon," Green said, citing Oregon's wide open offense and uniforms.

How much will the upcoming season for each program matter to Green? "Not at all. The season doesn't matter at all. I'm all about the program," Green said.

Green does not have a timetable for a decision and plans to commit when he feels comfortable with his decision. In the meantime, Green will focus on improving his blocking.

I hope Green means what he says and ND is a player in it till the end.

I'm sick of prospects citing academics and the future and then heading off to other schools.

Until we start winning more games on a more consistent basis, that's what our MO is going to be- the team with tradition and good academics. We manage to stay competitive in the recruiting world despite being mediocre on the field over the majority of the past 20 years. Just imagine the big fish we would land if we put together two or three 10 win seasons. It'll all come together, and I think sooner than later. But until then, this is our cross to bear.

Agreed.

Green has that speed and would be a huge get. 4.3 forty is fast!

I believe that qualifies as stupid fast. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Did someone share with him our 100% Black graduation rate and ROY on an ND degree?

Probably waiting to use that as the hard close! Our ROI brings are the boys to the yard!

The degree value offered by Green's other top schools is absolute clown shoes compared to ND. FSU, Tennessee, and Oregon are all scraping the bottom of the barrel for African American Football ROI, and Oklahoma isn't much better. So if Green decides he cares about his education, that should weigh heavily in our favor.

That said, it doesn't bode well for his appreciation of degree value that he's entertaining those schools in the first place. We don't normally pull such "football first" kids. I'm not holding my breath.

Yeah, I think it's pretty easy for kids to rationalize their decision to go to a school that has a low Football ROI, even from an academic standpoint. They'll be told, and they'll tell themselves, that the statistic is just a function of what kind of students have attended that school in the past and not at all a reflection on the caliber of education the school provides, and they'll believe the FSU/Oregon/Tennessee coaches who tell them that if they just work hard personally and take advantage of all that the school has to offer then they will have no trouble finding a great, non-football job some day. Blah blah blah. I guess I think there's a little truth to that argument. But I wish the kids didn't; we'd get more of them.

Yeah I agree, and really that's the only thing that they could do to explain the deficiencies anyways. And more to the point, these recruits are probably being sold that they can obtain their education at their respective institutions much "easier," and that it won't matter anyways when they're in the NFL. What a load of garbage.

If I were a recruit who seriously cared about academics, I wouldn't even consider any of the schools Green has interest in. It seems counter-intuitive to me to push academics to the forefront of the decision, but then count FSU, Tennessee, and Oregon among your favorites. It makes me think that a lot of these recruits say they care about academics to placate their parents or something along those lines.

Most recruits, and people for that matter, are going to take the easier road when it's offered to them. It's only those select few that take on the challenge and all the future rewards it holds. Let's hope that Green is one of those few. Oh, and he's really good at football too. :smilewink
