How quick is he going to be with the play book? Some pretty smart guys have had problems with it.

this question/concern deserves a bump...this has been my concern. I hope he has the playbook and is working the routes.

In the summer I had my dad do situational scenarios ...he'd do ten, and I had 30 seconds to do all ten w/ the correct route...seemed like a little sense of urgency helped me develop a beter /quicker level of competence

...heck with software the way it is you could simulate all kinds of scenarios. I guess the point is staring at a playbook never got me ready to do anything other than leave the huddle knowing where to line up...

...His dad seems to be engaged, so I hope the two of them find something that works for Chris.

Seems like we could use him right now.

I don't think he has any chance at the 100m or the high jump, but the triple jump is possible. When you've been in track for that long and you're that fast, you don't put on weight (assuming he does for football) and drop .3 seconds off of your best time. You also don't start high-jumping 4" higher.

He would need another two inches on the high jump too.

He is not getting that one. No way. 7'2'' ridiculous. 6'8 is very impressive, no question, but not rare even at the high school level.

Seems to me 6" on high jump is just as attainable over 4 years as 2' on triple jump? .3 seconds on the 100m seems like a bit much though. GAIII plus CB = two guys with Rocketish 100m times. Yeah 3x, yo.

Not sure of the accuracy here but this compares fastest NFLers ever (how sick was Bo, no?):

Jacoby Ford: 10.01
Bob Hayes: 10.05 (World Record 1964)
Darrell Green: 10.08
Willie Gault: 10.1
Cliff Branch: 10.24
Deion Sanders 10.26
Chris Johnson: 10.38
Bo Jackson: 10.39
Darrius Heyward-Bey: 10.4
Tim Dwight: 10.41
Devin Hester: 10:42
Reggie Bush: 10.42
Rocket Ismail: 10:57
Usain Bolt: 9.58 Current World Record

I think this kid returns punts before Davonte.. I mean Kelly did give him the "Your my next Marty Gilyard" line...

I recognize the italics, but at the same time I salivate over imagining if Brown can have the type of success Gilyard had at UC. I'm a local guy in Cincy/NKY, so I watch UC every week (if they don't interfere with the Irish). Gilyard was freakishly fast, ran good routes, and was a no.1 outside receiver at 5'10"/5'11"... Chris Brown could be Gilyard at ND, except taller and faster. Can't wait to see if he can have an impact right away.

Disagree...Chris Brown would return kicks, he isn't the shiftiest guy out there. Neal and Prosise for punts.

True, I think Davonte and CJ are better suited for a shot at punts.

But the shifty comments always make me laugh.. Theo is pretty shifty but that didn't seem to translate to punt returning skills. GAIII, according to some fans, wasn't shifty enough for RB but yet the coaches STILL put him there.....

That would put him on about par to win the Big East Outdoor High Jump and come about 2 inches from the meet record. Wow

Okay, so the 6'8 was either not close to his PR, or he PR'd by four inches.

Hopefully it's the former, so that this 7'0 jump wasn't a fluke.

Either way, a 7'0 jump coming out of high school (and it could very well be higher) puts him well within striking distance of yet another Notre Dame record.

Pretty accurate

Pretty accurate

Its pretty accurate with the exception of Ismail's time he did indeed run 10.57 at the Penn Relays a couple weeks before the NFL Draft, but had not run in quite a while since indoor season...He actually ran 10.20 at a meet but the clock was deemed faulty and has recorded a 10.34 in Irish annuals that did count and is regarded as #2 in school history..he only ran about 3 or 4 100 meter races though at ND....shame

Well thats pretty accurate for times with the exception being Ismail's time he did in fact clock 10.57 at the 1991 Penn Relays..but he had not ran in over 4 months, but he has clocked as fast as 10.20 with a slight unallowable wind and clocked a legal 10.34 as a sophomore and it still stands as the 2nd fast time in ND History and is actually the fastest fully automatic timing in school history as Bill Hurd's time was converted from hand timing.
