@ScoutKennedy: Pretty good competition between st. Pete RB Ryan Green and LB Quinton Powell. Green popped up doing a tomahawk chop #nftc

Not worried. He's all ND. Remember we had another great player doing the Tomahawk Chop at an all star game and he ended up Irish. An then, uh, I mean, well.....nevermind.

Powell is a UF commit, not very telling imo considering he was mockin him because green is a FSU fan I assume

Congrats to Ryan Green as he was named running back MVP at the Orlando Nike Football Training Camp and was invited to "The Opening", an elite all-star camp held on the Nike Campus in Beaverton, Oregon.

Said that he is focusing on FSU, UF, and ND. Reportedly all even.

If I were a RB prospect like Green or Isaac, I'd have to take notice of our OL class. The 5 guys we've got comitted are going to be opening up some massive running lanes.

experts close say he will be a signing day decision. if we get sherit plus we have a top class with 5 elite O-line plus we can sell him as our No.1 priority plus we could see a ND team in which the 4 RBS could easily average 200+ yrds a game . I still like our chances

True, but the depth at RB is great, even after Wood and Riddick graduate. BTW, does anyone else expect that this will be Cierre's last season?

99% chance he leaves IMO. Sometimes ppl leave and u feel mad because they shouldn't ( Tate ) and sometimes its just the natural order ( Clausen ). Atkinson and Carlisle will be ready

Our depth is getting to be great, but Green would bring a new dynamic to the offense with his speed. As for Cierre, he may jump after a good season, but I think that would be the result of a surprisingly good season more so than the expectation. Hope I'm wrong though.

Surprisingly good? He had an 1,000 yrd season last year splitting carries?

Cierre avg 5.1 yrds/carry while Trent Richardson avg 5.9 yrds/carry thats pretty impressive to come close IMO.

I think ppl take Wood for granted

I think that's really only because Wood played his best at the beginning of last season, rather than improving as it went on.

ResLife's comment was on the mark.

There were 47 Div 1 rushers over a 1,000 yds last year and another 8 or 10 there were close.

1,000 yd/season was a mark of excellence when teams played 10 games and RBs rushed for 100 yds/game. Wood averaged under 85 yds/game.

There were about 2 dozen RBs that got around 6 yds/rush. LaMichael James was one of 8 that averaged better than 7 yds/carry. Cierre was a shade over 5 yds/carry.

James had 700 more yds than Wood on only 30 more carries.

How many RBs does the NFL take a year?

Hard for a RB to get used to a certain workload and pace and then have to do everything by himself last couple games then when we decide to give him some permanent help at RB ( Riddick for FSU) it's against one of the best Ds in the country

If Gray doesn't do as good as he did, Wood averages over 100 per game

How many of those guys had a counterpart that was on pace to break 1000 yrds also?

Wood is also very well prepared for the NFL, good reciever and blocker

I think I have said this to u before BGIFS but stats are not cut and dry

Also u bring up Oregon a run-based spread while ND is more of a pass-based

I don't see how Cierre translates at the next level yet. For whatever reason, he reminds me too much of Eric Metcalf.

I'm not say wood is 1st round. But he is good enough to go late 2nd or 3rd round and he understands he is teammates ready to take the team

Cierre needs that next gear.

I hope we see the breakaway speed.

That's something Jonas was able to provide.

Wood doesn't have the break away speed to be a 1st rd pick. I'm thinking 2nd or 3rd rd

I agree with your assesment right now but he could get a little faster and with a good year be a late first round pick.

I dont know, he has pretty darn good speed. I dont know what else we are expecting. 4.3 speed. I bet he runs 4.45 and or a little lower.

He may.

But I doubt it.

I'm thinking he agile and shifty as all get out.

But his north/south needs that top gear.

When he rounds the corner, you want him to get gone.

I'm not sure he can deliver that yet, as I haven't seen it yet.

Have you?

This is a little off topic but I just looked it up but he ran a 4.44 his junior year of high school

I understand. Completely.

How fast was Harrison Smith's 40 time in high school (the reported fast one) versus his proday/combine results?

Rhetorical question...

The answer is 4.38 versus 4.57.

My point is I haven't seen it translate at all.

I am done derailing this thread. I don't think we land Green. I hope we do, but he seems happy in Florida.

The tomahawk chop hurts. It really does. But it's a long ways until NSD and Alford is a special dude. On top of that, winning cures all and we have a shot at every team we play this year for success against them if our team executes.

Here's to hope.
