Relax boys.

Irish Sports Daily ‏ @ISDUpdate
No truth to any rumors of #NotreDame OL commit Steve Elmer considering any change to his commitment status.

Irish Sports Daily ‏ @ISDUpdate
Michigan recently contacted Steven Elmer asking if they should hold a spot for him & he said no. He's going to #NotreDame.

Also of greater significance, his father posts on BGI and said that the words were twisted in the CBS article. Michigan and Stanford do have interest but Steven has none. He knows the meaning of the word "committment."

Just in case someone hasn't seen it. I was trying to act like I didn't care, but when I read this post, I swelled up with happiness.

I guess I did care...

from his father posted on Irish Envy:

Steven Elmer is a kid that knows the meaning of words like commitment, honor, integrity and character and if he says he is coming to ND you can bank on it as if you said it yourself. End of story.

That being said - as a parent you cant prudently burn all bridges with every other school. We have made sure that the VERY FEW schools that stay in contact with us know that Steve is solidly committed to ND and that they are next in line after ND; if they choose to continue to communicate knowing they are in line - then so be it, it is their choice.

Are Mrs Elmer and I also 100% Irish?
Absolutely!

We have NO PLANS on visiting any other schools, not sure where that came from, we cant even come down to ND as frequently as we would like! things like Student Council, Youth Ministry, homework, ACT prep, baseball, softball, volleyball - all kind of keep us busy here!

sounds like he is staying. This is one guy we probably wont have to worry about come signing day... like Tee's cousin. :p

I get your point. The only difference was Tee's cousin was committed to ND because of Tee. Elmer is committed to ND because it's ND.

Notre Dame commit Steven Elmer at the Best of the Midwest Combine - Indianapolis - YouTube

Best of the Midwest Combine - Indianapolis: OL Steve Elmer

Scouting Report

Runs very well for a 315-pound player by clocking in at just over a 5.0-flat in the 40-yard dash at the event ... Thick shoulders with power in his truck and athletic legs which makes for strength on run blocks and ability to run a player to the ground ... Shows ability to pull and block in space on film, which is an important component of an offensive lineman in Notre Dame's offensive scheme ... Gets his hips down and makes a strong punch to the chest, combo blocks well and a great foundation for a college coach to work with ... Plays on the right side of the line on tape, so will be further evaluated at future events to check the foot quickness overview the foot quickness for the left side of the line ... Nice kid off the field, but possesses the switch to play aggressively and has an eagerness to learn and compete that can't be taught ... Run blocking ability is ahead of pass blocking right now, but has a nice first kick and ability to re-post arm to hand the outside rush and counter inside ... With the need along the offensive line for a versatile player and a left-tackle candidate, not many better ways to kick off the 2013 haul with a player with his ability, body of work and solidarity in pledge by not flinching at Michigan and other programs trying to gauge interest.

Mike Farrell
@rivalsmike

Hearing a rumor that there could be a MAJOR commitment flip this weekend. Stay tuned to Rivals.com for more info if it happens.

Not trying to spread rumors or cause freakouts. Just hope to god it's not Elmer but with what GITF said it's entirely possible.

Farrell had this tweet today that some have speculated that Farrell was referring to Reuben Foster, a Bama commit that visited UGA this weekend.

The Adidas Invitational is the new incarnation of what was the Michigan Showcase and the Midwest Showcase in past years. The Maximum Exposure brand, lead by Curtis Blackwell and Chanterius Brock, has brought top talents from around the country together in the Detroit area for the past few years and this event, scheduled for April 7, should be no different.
Registration is not yet closed, but it is an invite only camp.

Notre Dame commitment has been competing all off-season and is one of the most athletic offensive linemen in the entire Midwest.

BTW none of our commitments rose in the new rankings. Somehow all of them dropped Atleast a few spots.

I don't even understand how that's possible... no one is even playing right now.

They're probably just looking at a ton of new film that they're just now getting to and getting "high" on some guys. With 7on7 and their seniors years, it'll even itself out.

This isn't ESPN. They don't really have a reason to be immensely biased.

If they have offers from Wisco (if OL), and SEC schools, they're a baller.

Thats mostly how I judge prospects, offer sheet. Look at DGB before he committed, 3 star prospect that rose to 5. They can't look at everyone all the time.
