It seems like there are a bunch of stories that we've all got mixed up.

There are the investigations going on at Tennessee.

There's always rumors that tomorrow is when the lid gets blown off of Auburn.

Then out of nowhere there's supposed to be some damaging news on a Midwest team.

Then Cowherd throws his name in there and says there's going to be damaging news on a top 12 team.

Then SI comes out with an article about college football and crime.

It seems like every single one of these are completely independent of one another. Especially the last one, the SI article, it has nothing to do with damaging news (upcoming sanctions, probation, etc.) on a top program.

I have to say I doubt we're going to see anything materialize. It seems all along that something is going to happen to Tennessee...maybe further down the road to Auburn. But Texas, Oregon, Stanford....probably not likely.

Like I said, take it with a grain of salt, but at this point the Lyles debacle sounds more believable than anything else, and since when has Cowherd been a champion for truth and justice?

*Maybe Cowherd was instructed to throw people off the scent? I mean it's not like he cares about being right or credible as long as people are listening.

Sorry if I was too subtle with the sarcasm. Read the phrase in your post above that I emphasized in Bold and then reread my quote.

Oh, the dilemma! Who to believe, Cowherd or an unidentified message board

Oregon signee DeAnthony Thomas has apparently Tweeted that he was interviewed by the NCAA and that it felt like he was being interviewed "by the police".

Cowherd just gave his "Top 12 Teams" that it could be. Alabama, Auburn,Florida,Georgia(?),Oergon, USC, Ohio State, Wisconsin, Va Tech, Boise State, Texas, Oklahoma. He stated he received a 3rd source last night that indeed one program is in trouble! But it is not ND!!!!!!

Hopefully it's wisoconsin. I have two friends being recruited by them and went to their junior day. Maybe I can cash in on this.

From a reliable source (har har... but seriously, works in their sports marketing department) back in the SMU era of college football Wisconsin paid players like everyone else... so it is certainly possible.

But I'm guessing you were being sarcastic.

NCAA has a chat with top Oregon signee | CollegeFootballTalk

UPDATED 1:11 p.m. ET: Giving the attention paid to his postings on Twitter, Thomas has fired off a series of tweets that seem to indicate the NCAA spoke to him about USC and not Oregon.

This is a really interesting article to me. Along with what you quoted there...

UPDATED 3:16 p.m. ET: In a phone conversation with Fischer this afternoon, Thomas claims that the Twitter account is not his and that he has not spoken to the NCAA

and...

Shortly after Thomas denied to CBS Sports.com that the Twitter account in question was his, Dr. Saturday unearthed a posting on what’s purported to be Thomas’ Facebook wall asking his followers to follow him on the same Twitter account that started this imbroglio.

While I agree that the NCAA probably interviews a lot of recruits about their recruiting process, the timing of this (along with Auburn, UT, et al) is making even more of this supposed story.
