I don't think it really matters what the circumstances are.

He either didn't do his homework and committed to ND without understanding what being a student-athlete at the school actually entails. Or he came to ND, had a hard time adapting, and quit after a month.

Either way, it shows immaturity. Which is fine, it's probably better for him to be closer to home.

My point is that calling an 18 year old, high school football star immature should not be considered surprising or even insulting. The average person is somewhat immature at that age and I can imagine that being a national sports star only magnifies that. ND isn't for everyone and I think it takes a different kind of recruit to adapt and succeed there. Tee leaving after a month suggests that he just didn't have it. His choice and best of luck to him.

True. BK's general recruiting strategy at ND helps, though. By recruiting athletes who have the ability to play multiple positions, you give yourself the flexibility to get out of jams like this. Farley will probably move to CB and Hardy will work at both CB and safety, with Prosise behind him. That'll be ok for next year (although I was hoping to see Tee contribute on the field this fall), and as long as we reel in (and hold on to) some talented CBs in the class of 2013, we'll be fine.

In all honesty, from my interactions with him, he seemed like an awesome guy, but seemed very alone. Felt bad for him, can't be easy for anyone to start school in the middle of the winter in the middle of Indiana, and on top of that Tee practically got abandoned by his cousin. Wish he was Irish, but life goes on.

The problem could have been in the classroom for Shepard. Midterm grade deficiencies were released on Tuesday, giving a potential stumbling block for an early-enrollee that was dealing with a stark transition from high school to college. Adding to that, Shepard’s transition was likely more challenging that most, with his hearing disability adding another obstacle to the generally difficult move from prep-level courses to Notre Dame’s rigorous First Year of Studies program.

Wow. Idk what to say to that. That's deplorable. Seriously, twitter and facebook are so dangerous for recruiting and current players. Today's players have to have such a thick skin, they can't go on facebook or twitter without getting blasted by someone.

The way I look at it, it's really of no use to attack his character or whatever it may be. He just doesn't feel comfortable anymore, for whatever reason, whether it be homesickness, effort, etc. We all know that ND isn't for everyone, and I wouldn't put it past 90% of the 18 year olds I know to not want to do school work or something along those lines.

I'm pissed that he just now is figuring this out, and kind of left ND in a bind at a position, forcing Kelly to scramble to figure something out. But really, it's his decision and his alone, and beyond our control. That's why I love coming to the board to vent about how the situation sucks, but to see that moron on twitter blasting the kid is ridiculous.

But, from a purely football standpoint, this is a rough loss. We're going to miss him in the defensive backfield.

Eh, nothing can happen except to move on. He seems like a great kid, but sometimes things just don't work out.

I live away from home and want to move back everyday because it feels like I am missing out on all the great memories being created. I can't though because the way my career is headed.

I can understand, though, where Tee is coming from since his grandmother passed away. He could feel like he will miss out on all the memories back home. I know "he needs to grow up sometime" but as long as he gets a degree somewhere he really is not making a bad decision for himself. It just feels like he is from a Notre Dame fan point of view.

Yeah, tell us about it. I'm really getting sick and tired of things "Not working out" with a recruit or in this case a COMMITTED player. I mean seriously, Notre Dame deserves much better than this. I'm getting so frustrated on the guys who flake out on us, good reason or just plain classless. It's getting on my last nerve! ND better pull off a top 3 class next year to make up for it.
